Crolla beats Urquiaga in final fight, Taylor defeats Linardatou - reaction

Anthony Crolla on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "Getting the win was the main thing but now I know my time's up. It was always going to be my last fight but I know it's the right decision now.

"I got a lot of nice messages today which meant the world to me but I had to try and block them out. Fair play to Frankie - he gave me a tough fight. I definitely thought I'd done enough, though.

"I wasn't nervous coming into the arena but it did get to me a bit when I came out here - knowing it was for the last time.

"Two rounds in I thought I'd get to him and break him up but I didn't have it. I couldn't go through the gears and I couldn't get the shots off. Around round five I thought: 'My time's up'.

"It went right down to the final bell - hopefully it wasn't too bad to watch - I think my career has just caught up with me now.

"Hopefully I've left a bit of a legacy. And I'll be back in the gym training the youngsters and hopefully some of the champions of the future."

After three or four rounds I was getting a bit concerned. I thought he was getting caught a little too much.

I was starting to panic in round four and five but then Crolla started to make a few changes and he boxed very sensibly to claim the win.

Anthony Crolla is still standing in the centre of the Manchester Arena ring, taking soon-to-be treasured photos with his nearest and dearest.

As a boxer the hardest thing is to know when your time is done.

Boxing has been a part of his life since he was 10 so to fill that void now isn't going to be easy and it's something he'll have to adjust to.

I think there's an awful lot of people in here that are regulars and there are people here that will have sat with Crolla when he paid for his ticket here.

Those are the types of fans that Crolla has inspired and the type of fans that he's dragged along.

Not a dry eye in the house. Anthony Crolla is pushed back into the ring by his team, leaping on to all four of the corner posts and spreading his arms to take the acclaim of his adoring fans.

Brutally honest as ever from Anthony Crolla.

It was like something from a movie.

He fought the last 20 seconds of that fight with his back to the rope with Urquiaga unloading punches on him.

Anthony Crolla goes out in a highly respectable manner.

What a finish for him - just the way he wanted to leave the boxing ring.

Well! I didn't see that one coming.

Crolla takes it 95-95 98-92 97-93. No idea how those two judges got it that wide in Crolla's favour.

Not that anyone in Manchester cares.

They had to fight for every second, for every inch of that bout.

Anthony Crolla doesn't get the send off he wanted as an extraordinary career, full of ups and downs, battles against the odds, comes to a close.

He returns to the middle to clap all sides of the arena and then we wait...

A hugely competitive contest. We think Crolla has done enough. Many of the pundits ringside think it's desperately close.
