Defending champion Novak Djokovic set up an Australian Open semi-final against Roger Federer after producing another clinical performance to beat Canadian 32nd seed Milos Raonic.

Djokovic dismantled Raonic's potent serve to win 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-1) despite an eye problem late in the third set. The Serb second seed, who is aiming for a record-extending eighth title, has lost just one set in Melbourne so far.

Djokovic, 32, will meet Swiss third seed Federer in Thursday's semi-final. It is the pair's first meeting at the Australian Open since Djokovic beat 38-year-old Federer in their 2016 semi-final.

"He is one of the all-time greats and the match-ups against Roger and Rafa have made me the player I am today," said Djokovic, who has lost just three times at Melbourne Park in the past decade.

"I hope I can get just one match point against him. Let the better player win."

More from Djokovic: "I felt great on court and thought I was very focused. In the first couple of sets it went the way I wanted it to go - one break was enough and I was comfortable serving and that's key against Milos.

"I did pretty well in two sets, was pretty fortunate to get out of trouble in the third and it was a perfect tie-break."

The win sets up a 50th meeting against Roger Federer, with the Swiss holding a 26-23 overall edge.

"Obviously I have tremendous respect for Roger," adds Djokovic. "He is one of the all-time greats and one of my two biggest rivals. The match-ups against Roger and Rafa have made me the player I am today so I'm grateful to have had so many matches against them. It's amazing what he has done in the court today, that's why he is who is. Let the better player win."

On the contact lenses problem, which saw him leave the court in the third set, Djokovic says: "I want to apologise to Milos and it was not something you see often - a player going out when it's not a changeover moment.

"It was not intentional or tactical, it was just something I had to do as in those games I could not see too much and I had to change my lenses."

On coach Goran Ivanisevic being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Novak Djokovic says: "Congratulations my dear coach for being introduced into the Hall of Fame.

Djokovic, wearing the initials KB on his training top as a tribute, is fighting back tears as he says: "I don't know what we could say.

"It really caught us by surprise, Kobe was one of the greatest athletes of all time and inspired me and many other people around the world.

"I had that fortune to have a personal relationship with him over the last 10 years and when I needed advice he was there for me. He was my mentor, my friend and it's just heart-breaking to see what has happened with him and his daughter."
