    Novak Djokovic

Defending champion Novak Djokovic set up an Australian Open semi-final against Roger Federer after producing another clinical performance to beat Canadian 32nd seed Milos Raonic.

Djokovic dismantled Raonic's potent serve to win 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-1) despite an eye problem late in the third set. The Serb second seed, who is aiming for a record-extending eighth title, has lost just one set in Melbourne so far.

Djokovic, 32, will meet Swiss third seed Federer in Thursday's semi-final. It is the pair's first meeting at the Australian Open since Djokovic beat 38-year-old Federer in their 2016 semi-final.

"He is one of the all-time greats and the match-ups against Roger and Rafa have made me the player I am today," said Djokovic, who has lost just three times at Melbourne Park in the past decade.

"I hope I can get just one match point against him. Let the better player win."

Some more reaction to that tweet from Kieran [see 12:02 GMT entry] that it's "getting boring knowing the same 2-3 players will contest every Grand Slam final".

Samson Okwechime: Valid point but no one seems to have the 1.Experience, 2.Mental Fortitude, 3.Fight, 4.Durability enough to fight "the big three" guys. Some are getting close though.

James Harrison: Totally agree with Kieran - yes, we are witnessing greatness, but you can even have too much of that. So glad the women's game is now more competitive.

  5. 'My favourite court and my favourite tournament'

    Raonic 4-6 3-6 6-7 (1-7) Djokovic

A few more quotes from Novak Djokovic, on the fact Rod Laver was present to watch on Rod Laver Arena.

"I'm honoured to have Rod Laver present for our match, thank you for coming, it's an honour to have you here tonight," says Djokovic.

"That adds more pressure for sure, seeing Rod and all the Australia and international legends of of our sport watching us play. I've been fortunate to play at such a high level and this, without doubt, has been my favourite court and my favourite tournament. I love being here."

George Christ: Absolutely dreadful shout from Kieran there [see 12:02 GMT entry], Djokovic Federer and Nadal are the three greatest of all time. Enjoy them whilst they last.

  7. Where's the popcorn?

Stan Wawrinka, who takes on seventh seed Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals tomorrow, is enjoying a day off, chilling out at the cinema watching the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence film Bad Boys For Life.

  8. 'Let the better player win'

    Raonic 4-6 3-6 6-7 (1-7) Djokovic

More from Djokovic: "I felt great on court and thought I was very focused. In the first couple of sets it went the way I wanted it to go - one break was enough and I was comfortable serving and that's key against Milos.

"I did pretty well in two sets, was pretty fortunate to get out of trouble in the third and it was a perfect tie-break."

The win sets up a 50th meeting against Roger Federer, with the Swiss holding a 26-23 overall edge.

"Obviously I have tremendous respect for Roger," adds Djokovic. "He is one of the all-time greats and one of my two biggest rivals. The match-ups against Roger and Rafa have made me the player I am today so I'm grateful to have had so many matches against them. It's amazing what he has done in the court today, that's why he is who is. Let the better player win."

Kieran: Tennis needs a new superstar. It’s getting boring knowing same 2-3 players will contest every slam final.

    Thoughts?

  10. Contact lenses change 'not intentional or tactical'

    Raonic 4-6 3-6 6-7 (1-7) Djokovic

On the contact lenses problem, which saw him leave the court in the third set, Djokovic says: "I want to apologise to Milos and it was not something you see often - a player going out when it's not a changeover moment.

"It was not intentional or tactical, it was just something I had to do as in those games I could not see too much and I had to change my lenses."

  11. 'Goran Ivanisevic is a legend of our sport'

    Raonic 4-6 3-6 6-7 (1-7) Djokovic

On coach Goran Ivanisevic being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Novak Djokovic says: "Congratulations my dear coach for being introduced into the Hall of Fame.

"He deserves it, he is a legend of our sport, has been very close in my career and life. I have known him since I was 12

"Ever since then we had a very friendly relationship and I'm really honoured to have him in my team."

  12. 'Kobe Bryant was my mentor, my friend - it's just heart-breaking'

    Raonic 4-6 3-6 6-7 (1-7) Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is interviewed by John McEnroe on the court and is asked about the death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who was one of nine people, along with his 13-year-old daughter, who sadly died in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

Djokovic, wearing the initials KB on his training top as a tribute, is fighting back tears as he says: "I don't know what we could say.

"It really caught us by surprise, Kobe was one of the greatest athletes of all time and inspired me and many other people around the world.

"I had that fortune to have a personal relationship with him over the last 10 years and when I needed advice he was there for me. He was my mentor, my friend and it's just heart-breaking to see what has happened with him and his daughter."
