Everton assistant Duncan Ferguson: "I am absolutely delighted and we played very well and took the chance. We were dominant.

"We hit the bar, had a goal disallowed and in the second half we pushed on. It was a good all-round performance.

"We were dominant right through, Rotherham took us to extra-time and we were the better team from the go."

On Thierry Small becoming the club's youngest-ever player: "Brilliant, great for him and I'm made up for him. Really delighted. He was cool and we are delighted for him. 16, unbelievable. Hopefully the first of many.

"We are in it to win it."

  6. 'We gave a good account of ourselves'

    Everton 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday caretaker Neil Thompson: "We did well first half and were good on the counter. We used the ball well but we needed to penetrate more.

"They got two goals from set plays which is disappointing but we gave a good account of ourselves. It gave us a chance to pit our wits against some of the best in the country.

"We still have people missing and we have a duty of care to make sure everyone is right."

  7. Blades fan Calvert-Lewin enjoys win

    Everton 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Everton

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin: "Happy to be back in the goals and I have worked hard to get back to full fitness.

"I know when the ball is in those areas, I need to be aware and I am glad I was there to put it in.

"When you go 1-0 up, you are never safe and we had to score the second then got the cushion.

"It felt good to get a runout especially against them, being a boyhood Sheffield United fan."

  8. The Carlo effect

    Everton 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Everton

Everton have now won 15 of their 23 matches in all competitions this season (65%), just one fewer than the Toffees managed throughout the whole of last season (16/43 – 37%).

  9. 'Everton look something like their best'

    FT: Everton 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Pat Nevin

Former Everton and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Everton made that a routine game by playing very, very well. There was a real professionalism, they were cruising for about 65 minutes of the game. They are a different team with Dominic Calvert-Lewin because he gives them that focus and everything can play around him. He runs the ball long, puts himself in positions where creative midfielders can ping in balls to him. He will love playing with those creative players but they will enjoy having him in the team as well.

Really enjoyed watching them at something like their best.

  10. FULL-TIME

    Everton 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Job well done. Everton will play Wycombe or Tottenham in round five.

  11. PENALTY APPEAL

  15. 'Ancelotti will want the whistle blown'

    Everton 3-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Pat Nevin

Former Everton and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sheffield Wednesday haven't embarrassed themselves - they have looked a league apart because they are literally a league apart. Looking at Everton now they look like they have decided this game is finished so that's giving Sheffield Wedneday a bit of a boost. Carlo Ancelotti will want that whistle blown as soon as possible, nobody injured, just get off the field and onto the next game.

  16. Post update
