Africa Cup of Nations final: Mane with winning penalty as Senegal beat Egypt on penalties

Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy: "We are proud. We never won it before. We worked really hard to win this trophy and today we won as a group and as a country and that is why I am super proud.

"The shooters in the penalties did really well, I tried to do my best to save one shot and I did that, so I am super happy!"

Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly: "We feel happy. We knew it would be hard to win the Africa Cup of Nations but today we made it.

"Our team deserved to win this title. We had been looking for this for a long time and now we have it. This team is magnificent.

"It was a tough game and a tough tournament. We made it with our team and our power. Our goalkeeper is the best in the world and we win the title."

Gianni Infantino is taking the Africa Cup of Nations trophy off the pitch with Kalidou Koulibaly while the rest of the Senegal team are left standing on the pitch.

Pleasingly, after a trip up to where the officials watching on are, Koulibaly takes back the trophy out to his team-mates.

I have to give special mention to Senegal's two defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Abdou Diallo. They were exceptional.

It is nice to see a team that has such talented players lift the trophy.

Samuel Park: Everyone is talking about Mane. But can we also appreciate some of the saves Edouard Mendy has made during the game as well as the decisive penalty save in the shootout. So underrated keeper.

It is my daily aim to be as happy as Edouard Mendy waving a Senegal flag.

We are going through the individual awards right now and Sadio Mane is up to collect the player of the tournament award.

There's a man who has had an incredible 18 months, Champions League winner and has now just picked up the award for best goalkeeper.

Incredible to think that just seven years ago Edouard Mendy had registered with France's unemployment agency and was ready to give up on a career in football. Now he is an Africa Cup of Nations winner.

As he [Sadio Mane] walked up to take that penalty I bet all the Senegal players were excited because they know he is someone who can be trusted.

Credit to Mane, he has developed an awful lot over the years. It is a shame for Salah that he has to go through the disappointment but that is football.

There's tears of joy from the Senegal players on the pitch waiting for the trophy presentation. This is the country's first Africa Cup of Nations win and you can see just how much it means.
