Premier League: Leeds 0-1 Wolves - Jimenez scores deflected winner

Wolves captain Conor Coady on Sky Sports: "It was a massive result for us, we knew how tough it would be. They were fantastic last season, they play at 100mph but we stuck at our plan. It's hard to get after them, you have to play with your brain. They were very attacking, we looked at that and then we got a bit of control in the second half.

"A clean sheet is massive for any team, that's what we want every single game. We manage the game as much as possible. We'd love to be 4-0 up at half time but it's so tough in the Premier League.

"Max Kilman, he's been briliant, he's been with us for years and he keeps on improving, He deserves to be man of the match. He's the only person who goes near Adama Traore in training, he loves it.

"It's been incredible to be in the England setup, everything I thought it would be and more. It's a massive credit to this football club and it's important I keep repaying them."

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo speaking to Sky Sports on what pleased him: "The hard work of the boys especially in terms of the fitness of the team. We grew as the game went by.

"Leeds had chances - it was a very good game of football. But we had chances and had one goal which was offside after good movement."

Satisfaction with a clean sheet? "Especially yes. It's what we desire. It was a very difficult game for us. When the game started they caused enormous problems. In the second half we were good. Our defensive formation allowed us to counter-attack.

"It's very hard to play against Leeds when they go man to man. It's important to stay in the game and defend well."

About scoring in the second half again: "If you ask me, I'd rather score in the first minute."

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa speaking to BBC's MOTD: "It was a disputed game. We dominated and created enough chances to go ahead.

"There were a lot of duels and friction. It was hard to play."

On where the team should have scored from their chances in the first half: "We also had the whole of the second half to try to win the game.

"In the second half we weren't able to attack as much.

On VAR ruling out a goal for them: "VAR is a resource referees use to correct decisions."

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Sport: "It was a good performance with some aspects to improve. We were better in the second half, but at the start it was very difficult for us.

"They broke us, created chances, they were so dynamic.

"We had to adjust and be more clinical in front. The goal was fortunate but we had chances.

"There was a proposal from Arsene Wenger for daylight for offsides, VAR is fine margins and we want them to make good decisions. It is a challenge for referees to improve, to be better, be faster and let the game flow.

"Nobody likes to celebrate and then come back. VAR can go both ways, let's try to help and make things better together."

"We had the sensation that we could unbalance them. We created enough opportunities to establish a lead.

"I don't think they were better than us but they neutralised our game better. The game was very hard, very physical and there was a lot of interruptions.

"Every game you have opportunities to generate corrections."

Leeds United haven't won a Premier League game in which they've conceded the first goal since December 2002 against Sunderland (2-1).

Wolves striker Raul Jimenez: "It's always good to win at this kind of stadium. We knew this game would be tough but we had the personality to take this result.

"In the first half we didn't find a way to receive their press but in the second half we played very well and found the space.

"It's difficult to score against this kind of team, they press very well. Sometimes you need fortune to score, it's all about persistence.

"Leeds are very tough. They go man to man, we knew it would be difficult. After losing two in a row now we win two in a row, it gives us a lot of confidence."

Wolves go all the way up to sixth, leapfrogging Leeds in the early-season process. Two good sides.
