Highlights as Italy progress to the final

Italy's Jorginho, who scored the decisive penalty: “It is incredible, we had to suffer because Spain is a great team and play very well. They make you run and so difficult to play against them. In the end it was well deserved. Enjoy tonight then think of the last one.
“We believe in ourselves from the first time we were together almost three years ago. Roberto Mancini always said he believed in us and it good to have that feeling. We started growing up as a group and tram and we support each other. The result in the end is most important.
“This group, with this support, we are ready for any game against anyone. Italy always knew how to defend, suffer and run and now we are playing good football so this group is ready to play against anyone. We were waiting for this big moment, this big challenge and now we are here and we will see what is going to happen.”

Cheeky from Kasper Schmeichel.
Although he has a point!
'One win from our dream'

Italy
Italy keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma: "I was calm before penalties because I knew I could help the team. I'd like to thank everyone, as now we are only one step away from realising our dream. Spain are very strong, but this Italy side has a lot of courage, we never give up.
"Spain caused us a lot of trouble with their possession, but I think we deserve to play in the final. I don't want to talk about the final now, I want to enjoy the moment. We'll think about it when we have to."

Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
I don't how Jorginho gets the power [in his penalty]. That's it. The direction is fine, but getting the power after jumping in the air and coming down, it's really difficult. And watching the keeper while not looking at the ball and backing yourself in this kind of environment? It's just incredible.

Italy into Euro 2020 final
Italy
This summer marks 15 years since Italy won the World Cup, and Euro 2020 is the first major tournament they have contested without at least one player from the class of 2006.
And to think the Azzurri failed to qualify for the last World Cup.
'Italy won't mind who they play in the final'

James Horncastle
European football writer
I don't think Italy will mind who they play in the final - at times this evening it felt like they were playing at home in Italy but away. They know that on Sunday the atmosphere will be very different, but I think they look at England like they look at Belgium. They see a team with a lot of talent but has been unfulfilled in major tournaments for too long.
The team has momentum now but it will be interesting to see how they come through physically because England haven't had to face extra time and they've played a lot of games at Wembley. Italy will be very aware of that.
'England could beat Italy'
Italy into Euro 2020 final
Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One
From England's perspective, it doesn't matter who goes through from this game if you're England. I believe England would beat both of these sides. I just feel no-one can compete with us right now with the confidence we have got.
People might say I am getting carried away, I don't care. What I have seen, I feel England are the better team and they would beat both of these teams.

Of course up next for Italy will be a final with either Denmark or England, who play at Wembley tomorrow.
*Should* England get through, how confident are you in them against the Italians?

Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One
You've got to compliment Mancini on his team, the characters he's got. It's 33 matches now unbeaten for Italy.
The togetherness they have on that squad and put that together with the ability. They are going to be very very difficult to beat in the final.
Night to remember for Mancini

What a job Roberto Mancini has done.
Italy head into the Euro 2020 final on the back of a 33-match unbeaten run stretching back to September 2018.
Double figures
Italy into Euro 2020 final
Italy
Italy have reached their 10th major tournament final, progressing to the final of the European Championship for the fourth time (also 6 World Cup finals).
Only Germany (14) have participated in more major tournament finals amongst European nations than Italy.
'Italy are one of the most spectacular teams'
Italy into the Euro 2020 final
Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live
The talk was completely different coming back from Italy. It was 'this team can get to the final this team can win.' This is one of the most spectacular and efficient teams in the competition. From that point of view, we're talking about an Italy that needed to get into the final to confirm those expectations.
But from Spain, this was probably the maximum that was desired.

For Spinazzola
Italy into Euro 2020 final
During the celebrations Lorenzo Insigne revealed a shirt with Leonardo Spinazzola's name on it. The Italy players were clearly determined to win the game for their team-mate, who is out for several months after rupturing an Achilles tendon in the quarter-final.
'Such confidence from Jorginho'
Italy into Euro 2020 final
Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
How do you do that when there's so much pressure? He watches the goalkeeper Unai Simon to see where he's going to move you have to have so much courage and conviction to take a penalty like that and he pulled it off.
You have to get that so spot on or you look idiotic - but to back yourself in that moment that tells you everything you need to know about Jorginho and his confidence. I think Lorenzo Insigne said he should be considered for the Ballon D'Or, he should after that.

Just look what it means to Italian fans. They have reached their 10th major tournament final.
'Italy had to dig deep'
Italy into Euro 2020 final
James Horncastle
European football writer
They had to dig deep, players cramping up towards the end, even some players they had brought on went down but they pulled through. When Spain equalised I wondered if Italy could get themselves back off the floor again but you have to just look at that grit, determination and the mentality of the players going into the shootout.
Giorgio Chiellini joking with Jordi Alba at the coin toss and Gianluigi Donnarumma smiling in the huddle before the shootout, he's only 22 and that's the biggest moment of his career and he was smiling. That probably made Spain feel awkward. And then to miss the first penalty but still come through and win.
