Syria: Annan ceasefire threatened by violence

A ceasefire brokered by the UN envoy Kofi Annan has come into force but reports indicate it is not being fully observed.

The level of violence has dropped but activists report at least three civilian deaths.

The opposition Syrian National Council says the plan is only being partially observed since Syrian tanks and troops were not withdrawn from cities.

And Syrian state media says an army officer was killed and dozens injured in a roadside bomb it blamed on terrorists.

Jim Muir reports from Beirut.
