Katie Piper is our first Strictly star of 2018!

Hoorah! Our first celebrity hopeful of 2018 has now been revealed, with Katie Piper sharing the happy news on BBC Breakfast.

As a superfan of the show, she can’t wait to embrace the full Strictly experience. “I feel so privileged and excited to be part of my favourite show on TV,” she said. “I already know how much of an amazing experience it will be for me and I can’t wait to show my girls some of my new dance moves!”

We all know Katie best for her charity work, having founded The Katie Piper Foundation in 2009 following a horrific acid attack. She’s since spoken openly about her experience, inspiring millions of young women across the world and raising awareness for fellow victims. As a result of her campaigning, she received a special recognition accolade at The Pride of Britain Awards in 2012.

She’s also documented her incredible journey through TV shows such as Katie: My Beautiful Face, Bodyshockers, Katie Piper’s Face to Face, as well as penning six books, including two autobiographies and several self-help books.
