Laura Whitmore is the third celebrity to join the Strictly class of 2016!
TV Presenter Laura Whitmore is the third celebrity to shimmy her way into the glittering new Strictly 2016 line-up. The announcement was made this morning on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw. Laura joined Grimmy in the studio to confirm the news.
When talking about the prospect of Strictly, Laura explained: “It's an incredible show and I feel so honoured to be asked to be part of it. I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly petrified too!”
Laura landed her first major presenting job after beating 3,000 other hopefuls to win the coveted MTV Video Journalist role. Her career has since rocketed, having reported from festivals around the world and interviewed some of the biggest names in the business.
A music lover at heart, Laura is often found on a Camden dance floor on a Friday night and loves to shake her stuff to Soul, Funk, Motown and 90s RnB: “Anyone who has ever met me knows this. I just love the endorphins it releases and it ties in to my love of music. I am a bit of a silly dancer so I’m looking forward to a bit of discipline.”
As a dedicated Strictly fan from the very first series, Laura watches with her Mum each year… she even tuned in online from Australia when she was presenting for 'I’m A Celebrity' spin off series ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here… Now!’. With that level of dedication, Laura will no doubt be pulling out all the stops in the training room.
