University of West London launches curry course

A London university is offering students scholarships to become curry chefs.

The four scholarships, worth £3,750 and backed by the government, are at the University of West London.

Launching the scheme, the Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said the scheme would help meet the demands of restaurateurs who have struggled to hire chefs from abroad because of tightened immigration policies.

Mr Pickles, the owner of Brilliant Restaurant Gulu Anand, celebrity TV chef Cyrus Todiwala and Lord Noon speak about the new scheme.
