Munich Olympic massacre survivor at 76

The opening of the Olympic games in London later this summer will mark not just the beginning of the sporting world's greatest festival but also the fortieth anniversary of one of its darker moments.

At the Munich Games in 1972 Palestinian gunmen murdered eleven members of the Israeli team after infiltrating the Olympic village and taking them hostage.

Among the Israeli athletes who survived the attack was Shaul Ladany - a world champion race walker who had already survived the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps.

Now at 76 he celebrates life by walking his own age in kilometres every year.

Kevin Connolly met him in Jerusalem.
