The Muslim fashion magazine Ala appeals to a conservative-chic female market in Turkey and in its debut year says it outsold many other established Western-style fashion magazines including Vogue.
Vogue dispute this claim, but the success of Ala is a sign of the growing confidence and spending power of Turkey's conservative female consumers.
