Trial to cure age-related blindness to begin in London

Clinical trials could soon begin in a project aimed at restoring sight for some patients.

Experts at Moorfields Eye Hospital and University College London (UCL) aim to use stem cells to restore sight for people with age-related macular degeneration, helping people like patient Donald Kane.

Some of the research is funded by the Medical Research Council and Lyndon da Cruz of Moorfields and Prof Pete Coffey of UCL are both excited about the prospect of a breakthrough.
