Withybush Hospital: Flu outbreak restricts visiting
- Published
An outbreak of flu has led to visiting restrictions being introduced at a Pembrokeshire hospital.
Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest is not permitting afternoon visits, while evening visits are restricted to two per patient.
Only essential visitors are being allowed on ward 11 at any time.
Health officials said the restrictions had been imposed to protect patients and staff, and to help reduce the spread of infection.
"There will be evening visiting only at Withybush until further notice only," Hywel Dda Health Board said in a statement.
"During evening visiting we ask that only two visitors attend at any one time, and ward staff have been asked to ensure that this is strictly adhered to.
"Please do not visit if you are suffering from flu or have any symptoms of infection."
Health officials say people suffering from flu should rest in bed and drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids. Paracetamol may also help.
The flu vaccine was available from some pharmacies in Wales for the first time this winter.
Selected pharmacists were given special training to administer the injections.
