The woman was sexually assaulted opposite Trinity Buildings, police said
A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman on a Carlisle street.
The 26-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted on Wigton Road at 19:00 BST on Monday, Cumbria Police said.
A 43-year-old man from the city has been arrested and released on bail until October.
The force said it took all reports of sexual assaults "very seriously" and asked anyone with information to contact police.
