Chuck Hagel on governing in Obama's second term

After President Barack Obama's re-election on Tuesday, he faces an immediate crisis - the so-called fiscal cliff, a package of tax rises and spending cuts due early next year.

So how can Mr Obama work with the Republicans to prevent this crisis?

Chuck Hagel, chairman of the Atlantic Council and a former Republican senator, tells the BBC's Katty Kay that the political environment is "totally" different than it was before the election, but each side will still have to compromise to get problems solved.

"Climates and environments do matter, politics reflects society and societies wants all leaders to solve problems," he said.
