Portsmouth man remanded in custody under Terrorism Act

A man from Portsmouth has been remanded in custody after being charged with preparing acts of terrorism.
Tuhin Shahensha, 26, from Hudson Road, Southsea, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with offences under section five of the Terrorism Act.
The defendant spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
District Judge John Zani sent the case to the Old Bailey to be heard on 14 November.
Mr Shahensha was one of four people arrested as part of a number of warrants executed in Hampshire and London by officers from the South East Counter Terrorism Unit (SECTU) on 14 October.
A 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman remain in police custody.
A 29-year-old woman from Greenwich, south-east London, was released without charge.
A police spokesman had earlier said the arrests were "in relation to conflicts overseas" and were "not linked to any immediate threat to local communities or anywhere else in the UK".
