"We've been really impressed with the high standard of auditions," said John Ryan, managing editor of BBC Radio Manchester.

Adding: "We have chosen some very talented people, with authentic local voices and a unique take on the world."

Potential presenters were asked to jump into the back of the taxi and do a one minute audition, which involved them answering a question picked randomly from the special 'Takeover' box.

The winners were then selected on the basis of their audition and have now been invited into the station studios to record their own programme.

Each of the winners will introduce songs and recorded interviews as part of their hour long programme, as well as talking about their life, area and interests.

John Ryan said the aim was to find a variety of new voices from our local communities.

"I have no doubt that we'll be broadcasting some brilliant programming on January 3rd."

The winners can be heard on BBC Radio Manchester, Monday, January 3rd, on 95.1FM/DAB.
