A hunt is on for photographs and first-hand accounts about fashion designer Coco Chanel's Highlands hideaway.

Tern TV are researching the past of Rosehall House for a BBC 2 programme exploring the social history of buildings at risk of falling into ruin.

Ms Chanel stayed at Rosehall in Sutherland during her romance with its then owner Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster.

The mansion house lies south east of Invercassley.

Damaged by fire in the 1780s, it was rebuilt in 1822 and bought by the Duke of Westminster in the 1920s.

Ms Chanel's visits to Rosehall led to it being dubbed the Coco Chanel House.

The duke was among high-profile figures who courted the French designer, who died in 1971.

Others included Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.
