Teenager stabbed at Elephant and Castle shopping centre

A 17-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a fight outside shops in south-east London.

The victim, who is believed to come from Walworth, south-east London, was stabbed in the back at the entrance to the Elephant and Castle Centre on Elephant Road at 1520 BST.

He had a row with another youth and suffered a wound to his back, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

He is in a serious but stable condition in hospital. One arrest has been made.

Officers from both the BTP and the Metropolitan Police were called to the scene as it is close to Elephant and Castle Tube and railway stations.

There may be some disruption to local underground and overground services while the investigation continues, a BTP spokesman said.
