Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has said he will not stop any of his players from using social networking websites.

Striker Tuncay posted a video of his favourite goals on Facebook, which some media outlets believe was an effort to engineer a move away from the club.

"If they want to do it, that's up to them," Pulis told BBC Sport. "I can't be leaning over telling them what they can and can't do.

"It's very, very difficult at times, but boys will be boys."

Speaking on his Facebook page on Thursday, Tuncay said: "I launched my official website and social media pages late last year so I could speak directly to my fans.

"I recently published a compilation of my goals, which had been put together and aired in Turkey by Lig TV.

"Lig TV has a program each week that picks A football player from the Turkish Super League or national team and compiles their best moments.

"They kindly gave me permission to share the video (which aired over the Christmas period) with fans who would not originally have had access to this content.

"I would like to make clear that, despite some recent claims in the media, in sharing this video I had no intent or need for 'marketing myself' during the transfer window.

"Several Stoke players, including goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and defender Ryan Shotton, are regular users of Twitter.

On Monday, Liverpool striker Ryan Babel became the first player to be charged with improper conduct by the Football Association for comments made on Twitter.

Babel linked to a mocked-up picture of referee Howard Webb in a Manchester United shirt after the Reds lost 1-0 to United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The link was removed soon afterwards and Babel subsequently apologised.

Tuncay joined Stoke from Middlesbrough for £5m in August 2009 and has scored eight goals in 53 appearances for the Potters, including three in 16 games this season.

The Turkey international scored the equaliser in Stoke's FA Cup third-round tie against Cardiff at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
