Bristol woman's disappearance 'out of character'

The family of a Bristol woman missing since Friday say her disappearance is completely out of character.

Joanna Yeates, 25, was last seen by colleagues at about 2000 GMT on 17 December when she left the Ram pub on Park Street in Bristol city centre.

It is thought she then went to her home in Clifton as receipts from local shops were found there.

Her parents, from Southampton, appealed for her to contact them or the police, who are also concerned for her safety.

Miss Yeates, who works for an architect's firm, is described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, of medium build with short blonde hair and grey-blue eyes.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday her father David said her family loved her dearly and they were desperate to know she was safe.

"Jo is a very vibrant young woman and this is completely out of character for her.

"Whatever the reason you have not been in touch over the last few days, we want you to know we love you dearly and are desperate to know you are safe and well."

Det Supt Mark Saunders said officers were trying to piece together her last known movements.

"She had been out with her friends on Friday night. We know afterwards she went into the Tesco Metro store in Regent Street and then made her way back to her home at Canynge Road.

"We are appealing for anyone who saw her on her way home on Friday night, the early hours of Saturday, or any time over the weekend to get in touch with us."
