Arab freedom struggle 'on knife edge', says Amnesty
A fightback by repressive governments is putting at risk a historic struggle for freedom and justice in the Arab world, says Amnesty International in its annual report.
The Arab Spring has seen long-serving presidents in Tunisia and Egypt toppled, while leaders elsewhere are hanging on to power using a combination of concessions, repression and brute force.
Against this backdrop, Amnesty is calling on world leaders to ensure that 2011 is not a "false dawn" for human rights.
