Southampton have not received any bids for winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to manager Nigel Adkins.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpoolexternal-link, but Adkins told BBC Radio Solent no offers have been received.

He said: "We're not trying to sell him, he's had a good first season here and the important thing is he's still here.

"There's speculation linking him with other clubs but we want him to stay, and those are the facts."

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who signed a professional deal with the club last August, scored 11 goals in 40 appearances last season.

"I had a good conversation with him this week, he had a good first season with us, he loves Southampton and he openly admits that," said Adkins.

"There is always going to be interest in Alex, not just from Arsenal but from every football club in this country and abroad.

"But he's training very hard with the players at the moment, doing his fitness tests, and we're looking forward to the campaign, it's as simple as that."

Saints are yet to make a signing this summer but Adkins insists he is keen to recruit at least two new players before the start of the Championship season.

"We are looking to bring in a couple of players, no more than that because we've got a good spirit and a good team," he said.

"We've tried to speak to a couple of players this summer, and the chairman has backed that in a big way, but for the evolution of the club we've got to get better than what we've got."
