Fire at cement works in Dunbar brought under control

Firefighters have brought a fire at a cement works in East Lothian under control.

The alarm was raised just after 12:30 at Lafarge cement works in Dunbar, where there was a fire in a concrete bunker housing about 50 tonnes of rubber tyre chips.

Nearby residents were warned to keep their windows shut due to the toxic black smoke.

At the height of the blaze, eight fire appliances were involved.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said there were no reported injuries and said it was too soon to determine what the cause of the fire was.
