Higgs boson hints cap an incredible year for physics

The most coveted prize in particle physics - the Higgs boson - may have been glimpsed, say researchers reporting at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Geneva.

Newsnight's Science editor Susan Watts reports on what the Higgs boson is and how hints of it, along with the discovery of neutrinos, subatomic particles that may travel fast than the speed of light, are shaping our understanding of the universe.

Broadcast on Tuesday 13 December 2011.
