SpinARsaurus Learning Development

Welcome to the SpinARsaurus challenge, a research project being run by BBC Learning Development to explore the use of Augmented Reality in education. If you are on this website, you either have received an invitation card at The Big Bang fair, London or must have heard about the challenge from one of your friends. Either ways, you are going to experience a new way to solve puzzles and learn.

In order to get the best possible experience out of the challenge, here are some tips for you to follow:
  1. You will need a fully functioning webcam to take the challenge.

  2. You will need Flash Player 10 or above installed on your computer.
  3. If the game gets held on the preloader screen, then it could be that your Flash Player is waiting for you to allow access to the webcam. You could do this by following these simple steps: Right click in the game area to see the Flash Player menu and select 'Settings...' When you see the Adobe Flash Player settings dialog box, click on the second tab for Privacy settings. You should now see instructions 'Allow bbc.co.uk to access your camera and microphone. Select 'Allow' and click 'Close'. You should now see the challenge loading on your screen.
  4. If you are finding it hard to control the 3D model of the dinosaur with the card, then try to move the card a bit close or far from your webcam. The ideal distance to expose your card to the webcam is at an arm's length or 50 cm. Wave it to the left or right to control the 3D model acoordingly. Also make sure there is enough light around you.
