Tyrone Mings, Tom Carroll and Frederic Guilbert: Aston Villa sign trio

Aston Villa have signed Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings and Swansea midfielder Tom Carroll on loan until the end of the season.

Mings, 25, has made seven appearances for the Cherries this season.

Carroll, 26, has played 13 times for the Swans in 2018-19 but has not featured since October.

Villa have also signed Caen full-back Frederic Guilbert for an undisclosed fee and loaned him back to the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the season.

Former France under-21 international Guilbert, 24, who BBC Sport understands has cost around £4.4m, joined Caen from Bordeaux in 2017 after previously spending a year at the club on loan.

Villa will hope Mings can improve their porous defence. Only two Championship teams have conceded more than the 46 goals that Smith's side have let in this season.
