He and Paloma will be joined by the Lightning Seeds and newcomer Freya Ridings in providing the live music at this year's BBC's Sports Personality of the Year at Birmingham's Genting Arena on Sunday 16 December.

They'll follow in the footsteps of Noel G (scroll down for news on him) who knocked out the Beatles classic, All You Need is Love, at last year's event in Liverpool.

The Lightning Seeds will sing a rendition of Three Lions to celebrate England's footballers reaching the semi-finals of this year's World Cup.

So near, yet so far lads.

Those who attend will be treated to a pre-show performance from comedian Des Clarke and athlete/singer Jazmin Sawyers before the main programme goes live on BBC One.

They're the first headliners to be confirmed for the 2019 festival which moves location next year to Exhibition Park on Newcastle's Town Moor.

Gallagher Snr et al will headline on Saturday 25 May, with other bands including The Vaccines and Editors already confirmed to play.

"We can’t wait to see some truly iconic and legendary bands and artists coming to Newcastle and we are proud to be able to confirm Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds as our first headliner," said SSD Concert's Steve Davis.

"Noel constantly smashes the boundaries of what’s possible musically, recreating himself with every album. He is a fitting addition to the festival and will blow the crowd away outdoors in the summer sun!”

Big names including Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani and Chris Martin are set to take the stage at the One Love Malibu Festival, a concert to raise funds to help rebuild Malibu and the community after wildfires destroyed much of the area earlier this month.

Other performers include Robin Thicke, Natasha Bedingfield, Brandi Carlile, Chad Smith, Taylor Hawkins, Angel Haze, Doroty and Rita Wilson.

The cause will be particularly close to Robin Thicke's heart, having recently lost his Malibu home to the wildfires.

"It's just rubble," he told Entertainment Tonight. "There's nothing left. It's a great community, it's a community of wonderful people, a lot of parents whose kids go to the same school as my kid. It's just devastating."

Pop star Jessica Simpson recently revealed her family's experience of returning home after they were evacuated.

She told People magazine: "We came home, and (kids) Maxwell and Ace both ran to put on their favourite costume.

"They hugged each and every stuffed animal they have one by one, every time saying, 'We are so lucky'."

One Love Malibu takes place on 2 December.

As promised earlier Georgey boy followed Christine - of the Queens variety - into the Live Lounge earlier.

He brought his brass band with him for a rendition of Justin Bieber's Love Yourself.

After six years away, Mike Skinner and his crew returned last year with a couple of new banging tracks and a mega tour.

Now they've been back in the studio again, this time alongside fellow rappers, Chip and Grim Sickers .

Call Me in the Morning got its first airplay on Radio 1 last night and Mike told Annie Mac how her new Hottest Record came into being.

"Music is chaos really," he declared.

"I made the beat, I was playing the beat a lot when I was DJ'ing and I knew that the beat worked.

"Then Chip heard it and agreed."

Simple as that.

"He did an incredible verse," Mike added, "and I had to play catch up with genius."

Nicki returned to her home borough of Queens, New York yesterday to help give out some turkeys.

Along with her ma (pictured above right) they worked with the NYPD to give out over 500 turkeys to the residents of South Jamaica, on the day before America's Thanksgiving.

Reps for the NYPD 113th Precinct shared pictures from the event on Twitter, saying: "Who says rappers don't give back to the neighborhood they come from?"

Nicki retweeted the message and added, "Thank you guys for holding us down."

It will be introduced at their forthcoming headline show at the O2 on 5 December.

The lineup for the show includes "friends and allies from the community," including Norwegian popstar Astrid, Sis ‘pop futurist' Rina Sawayama, Voguer Jay Jay Revlon with The Kiki House of Tea and LGBT inclusive choir, Urban Voices Collective.

Off the stage, the Terrence Higgins charity will be manning stands, staffed with outreach workers, where attendees can receive condoms and other sexual health materials.

Bathrooms at the venue will have gender neutral options.

"The status quo is changing – for the better. Even so we’re used to festival lineups being dominated by mostly male acts, with female acts sidelined along with LGBTQ+ artists," Olly explains.

"This gets more complicated with artists who live at the intersection of race and sexuality, or artists who don’t fit a gender binary."

Olly added: "We believe that these artists deserve to be seen and heard and that audiences deserve to see and hear them too."

We were as surprised as you yesterday to discover that I'm a Celeb... star Nick Knowles was atop of the iTunes streaming charts, with his cover of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love.

On the ITV show he was telling his fellow contestants about how a jamming session with Scots festival rockers Biffy Clyro had led to him bagging a record deal.

Well, Greg James spoke to Bif drummer James Johnston this morning on the Radio 1 Breakfast show to validate the story and it turns out the picture wasn't exactly as Nick painted it.

Artistic licence, let's say.

“He’s been a bit fast and loose with the truth there," said James.

“It was more like eight years ago, and it was after an awards ceremony.

"We came back to this hotel in Soho and we’d been informed that Nick Knowles had bought us a bottle of champagne to celebrate on the roof!

"He was lovely, we had a drink and we left and there might have been a guitar there.”

Not quite a jam session.

“He was a nice guy! I’m not gonna say anything bad about him, Mr Nick Knowles, he was lovely," he went on.

The country star revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she is desperate to write a song for the fellow Canadian crooner.

“One of my dreams has always been that she would record one of my songs. I’d love her to sing one of my songs,” she told the show.

“I’m going to write one for her! I love her, she’s extraordinary.”

But she insists it won’t be a duet: “I could write the song and she could sing it.”

His new single is a cover of the classic Billy Joel hit and it was recorded live for Chris Evans' BBC Radio 2 show in October, in front of some rather A-list guests including actor-turned muso Jeff Goldblum and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Profits from the single will be donated to BBC Children in Need.

Billy Joel is a hero of Tom's and he supported him on tour back in 2013.

"Piano Man is one of my favourite songs of all time," Tom said.

"It inspired me to begin writing my own songs when I was a teenager.

Tom Grennan has revealed he was struck down with depression after being violently attacked and mugged at the age of 18.

Speaking to Laura Gallop on the teen diary podcast, Berkhamsted Revisited, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter said he was loving life playing in a local covers band at the time, before he was beaten unconscious outside a chicken shop in his hometown of Bedford.

His jaw was smashed and needed mending with metal plates, then his recovery was slow and left him clinically depressed.

"My whole life completely changed and I couldn’t leave the house for about a year," said Tom.

Tom, who released his debut album, Lighting Matches, earlier this year, added that the support of his mum, friends and counselling gave him the confidence to build himself back up and return to music

Ariana Grande has hit out at Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan with a series of tweets in defence of women who choose to show off their bodies.

Piers, who frequently courts controversy with his inflammatory comments, hit the headlines for mocking a still image from girl band Little Mix's music video for latest track Strip.

In it the girls pose naked while covered in written insults, with the point being to champion a body positive message.

Piers criticised the group though, claiming they were "using sex to sell records", and that they'd nabbed the idea for the shoot from US country band Dixie Chicks.

Ariana's mum, Joan, took aim at Morgan, asking: "Honestly what is wrong with you Piers Morgan? Didn't your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it!"

Here's how he responded:

Piers is referring to Ellen Degeneres, who he also called out for "drooling over famous men's bodies on International Men's Day."

He added: "Yet I've been abused all day for complimenting Holly Willoughby on her legs. The hypocrisy of modern feminism laid bare."

Unsurprisingly, after Ari was also dragged into the, ahem, 'mix', she had something to say in support of her "sisters" and against Piers, who she says is only criticising them in order to stay "relevant" and preserve "what's left of" his career.

Ouch.

It's all pretty murky stuff but Little Mix clearly appreciated the support.

After 53 shows, Taylor Swift finally wrapped up her Reputation tour in Tokyo in last night.

She wrote: “Rep tour is over & I am feeling infinity amounts of emotions.”

To mark the end of her trek, Tay shared footage on her Instagram stories of her and her dancers taking their final bow, and coming together in a circle for a group hug.

The conclusion of the tour comes just days after she announced she had left Big Machine Records, the label she signed to when she was 15.

She's since inked a new deal with Republic Records / Universal, and said, "I can’t wait to show you what I’m making next."

Taylor's support act, UK singer Charli XCX - who was sporting a cracking retro 90's orange tracksuit - described her tour pal as "a gem and a boss."

It might surprise some of her 120m followers, but Kim Kardashian says that Kanye West isn't always a fan of the revealing selfies she posts online.

The reality star told Ellen DeGeneres she sometimes agrees to post "conservative" photos on Instagram after listening to her husband's concerns.

"Sometimes I really need to get something out if I'm feeling good about myself or I've been working out really hard. And I'll post something, and he'll get upset. It's a cycle," she said.

The 22-year-old rapper - real name Daniel Hernandez - was set to drop his new album, Dummy Boy, on Friday.

However "due to circumstances beyond our control" the record has now been put on hold.

Those circumstances, quoted from his Instagram page, no doubt relate to him being arrested on Sunday and charged with racketeering and firearm offences.

He's been denied bail, could face life in jail and is currently being held in a detention centre in Brooklyn.

Last month, Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to four years probation relating to the use of a child in a sexual performance.

The tracklist for the now delayed album was released last week, including two songs with Kanye West, one of which also features Nicki Minaj.

The Queen rapper posted the below cartoon image of her incarcerated friend, alongside the following caption.

"For reasons beyond music, the record company will hold off on putting his project out for now."

She added: “Danny, I love you and am praying for you, your Mother, daughter & her Mom during this time.”

The K-Pop band continue to add to their list of record-breaking accolades, after their behind-the-scenes film, Burn the Stage: The Movie, became America's highest-grossing event-cinema music production of all time - knocking One Direction off the top spot.

Since opening this time last week, it's netted over 1.4 million admissions and has also claimed the sixth spot in the UK film chart.
