Drunk man tried to force way into woman's home
A man who tried to force his way into a woman's home while he was drunk has been given a community order and curfew.
The woman, who had her two-year-old son in her arms, heard banging on her front door in Hemel Hempstead at 07:55 on 5 January and thought it was friends of her daughter wanting to walk to school.
She answered the door and found Jamie Birch, who lunged into the property.
St Albans Crown Court heard the woman threw her toddler onto the stairs and managed to push Birch out and lock the door. The police arrived and found Birch with ecstasy, cannabis and 38 Xanax tablets on him.
He was in breach of a six month suspended sentence for causing the
death of Daniel McClellan by careless driving. In June 2016 Birch was driving a
white Transit van when it crashed into a telegraph pole, killing Mr McClellan.
Birch, of Oldhouse Road, Hemel Hempstead, pleaded guilty to damaging property, using
violence to secure entry to a property and possessing class A, B and C drugs. He was handed an 18 month community order and a four-month night-time curfew.
Man charged with 'outraging public decency' in Tesco
A man has been arrested and charged with committing an act of outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner at two Tesco supermarkets.
Hertfordshire Police said it had received reports of a man filming up the skirt of a woman shopper, without her knowing, in the store in Rickmansworth, on the afternoon of Friday, 20 April.
A 47-year-old man has been charged with the offence, although police say the victim may be unaware it happened and they want to trace her.
Det Con Ben Heath said: "Through our inquiries to date we have been unable to identify the alleged victim of this incident, so I’m appealing for anyone who was in the store around the time stated and saw anything suspicious to get in touch as you may have information that could help our inquiries."

The charges also relate to an incident that happened at Tesco Express on High Road, Bushey Heath on 25 April.
He is due to appear at Central West Herts Magistrates Court on 29 May.

injured and is in hospital after a fight outside a Bedfordshire pub.
Police were called to The Blackbirds on the High Street in Flitwick at about 22:30 last night.
They've appealed for

Urgent Treatment Centre to open in Bedford
An urgent treatment centre (UTC) and GP practice is to open on the Bedford Hospital site, to support the A&E department.
The hospital said it will "offer improved GP access and help reduce avoidable
visits to the Accident and Emergency Department".
It will be based in the Cauldwell Medical Centre and the UTC will be open for 12 hours, seven days a week and will offer same-day appointments, referred from the hospital or the NHS 111 phone service.
It was due to close in March, but that was extended until 30 September.
At the time it was set to close the Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said it was looking at "a range of options" which include extending the service or a new urgent care centre being created.
Motorists to be charged to park at Bedfordshire forest
A decision to charge motorists to park at a popular Bedfordshire forest has been met with "disappointment" by some.
From June it will cost visitors up to £3 to park a vehicle at the Forest of Marston Vale, in Marston Moretaine.
Various visitors told the BBC it will mean people will "park in other places", it is a "short sighted" decision, they feel "very disappointed - we might have to reconsider coming here" and "it's a shame".
Others believe the cost is justified and "not such a bad idea", another said "I don't mind paying at all" and "because they do so much here, it will help with their conservation".

Nick Webb, chief executive of the charity which runs the community forest, said they had been providing free car parking in the 18 years since the forest was opened, but 100,000 car visit a year was "putting quite a strain on our infrastructure".
"As a charity we are well used to doing 'make do and mend' but, unfortunately, we are subsidising people coming to the park and we feel putting a charge is fair to all people," he said.
"I know there have been some negative responses, [but] we have also had some very positive responses, who understand and fully support what we are doing."

Hitchin fire: Smoke spreads to Stevenage
Stevenage Borough Council is warning its residents to close their windows and doors as smoke from the large fire in neighbouring Hitchin is spreading towards the town.
Fire crews were called to Nationwide Metal Recycling in Cadwell Lane at 09:40.
A large plume of black smoke can be seen across Hitchin and the surrounding area.

Two centuries-old rings, which were discovered in Buckinghamshire, have been declared treasure following inquests at Beaconsfield Coroner's Court.
The first, a medieval silver gift finger ring, was found in Mentmore in August 2014. It is believed to date back to 1200.
The second, a post-medieval gold finger ring dating back to 1600, was discovered in March 2016 in the Wing area.

Stevenage Borough Council is warning its residents to close their windows and doors as smoke from the large fire in neighbouring Hitchin is spreading towards the town.

Fire crews tackle large fire in Hitchin
Firefighters have been called to a large fire on an industrial estate in Hitchin.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said it was called to a fire involving electrical goods in Cadwell Lane at 09:40.
It said it had taken more than 50 calls about it and currently had four crews in attendance with an aerial ladder platform on the way.
The yard manager at Nationwide Metal Recycling has confirmed that the fire was on their property and involved "plastic material".
A large plume of smoke can be seen across the town.
People are being advised to avoid the area.
BreakingSchool bus crashed in Dunstable
A bus, carrying a group of school children has crashed with a lorry on the A5, southbound just outside of Dunstable.
Police say they were called at 09:35 and the road has been closed in both directions.
Emergency services are at the scene but no-one is believed to have been seriously injured.
There are long delays by Tebworth, say police.
