League Two play-off final: Newport County to train at Cardiff City Stadium
Last updated on .From the section Newport
Newport will train at the Cardiff City Stadium before their League Two play-off final against Tranmere after the Bluebirds answered County's SOS call.
The Exiles had nowhere to train before the Wembley final on 25 May as their Newport Stadium training base is undergoing maintenance work.
It led to boss Michael Flynn seeking an alternative facility, as Newport do not own a ground or training pitch.
"It shows the class and the kind of club Cardiff are," Flynn said.
"It's an unbelievable gesture from everyone at Cardiff.
"I'd like to personally thank Neil Warnock, Ken Choo and everyone connected with the club for making this possible. It shows what is possible when Welsh football comes together."
Newport chairman Gavin Foxall says the issue had been a challenge for County.
"Evidently our providers didn't have the faith we had that we were going to get to Wembley," chairman Gavin Foxall told BBC Radio Wales.
Newport share the Welsh Rugby Union-owned Rodney Parade with rugby sides Dragons and Newport RFC.
Newport have received an initial allocation of 19,000 tickets for the Wembley final.

It's wonderful to see that despite the drama and histrionics of modern football common decency remains.
Hopefully this will help to set up an entertaining final.
"Two nothing clubs nobody cares about. Next."

What a derogatory comment. If you didn't care why post?
Real football fans don't glory hunt. They love the game & follow their local team.
My team is in League 2 & I am there every home game. Tranmere fans & Newport fans attended in force & were loud & proud.
Good luck to both teams & good one Cardiff.
Well done Cardiff you quite rightly stepped forward to help Newport.
Exactly what should happen.
I do wish Welsh football fans could unite just a little more.
Reading some of the negative comments on here is getting quite boring, if I'm honest.
Best of Luck Newport !!
You may be distant rivals on the pitch but you have risen above that and done the right thing.
What a season for Cardiff, a real roller coaster.
I wish them luck for next season, it certainly was missing from this year, I felt they were good enough but fine margins proved otherwise.
May be this will start a trend.A top club 'adopting' a non League club

Firstly, you do know Newport are not non-league? The headline 'League 2 Play-off' gives it away.
Although, further to your point: I wonder if there are any rich PL teams near to Bolton?
1. Do you have access to the paperwork and the legal expertise to know whether Cardiff should pay the transfer fee. Despite the tragic loss of life, the transfer is a business transaction.
2. I doubt how much Cardiff pay Nantes is high on the list of priorities for his family.
