Jimmy Neesham looked to have won it for New Zealand with this almighty six off Jofra Archer.
The Black Caps needed five from three balls.
Then three from two.
Then two from one. A single off the last would give England victory because they had hit more boundaries throughout the game.

First, Trent Boult lost his balance and trod on the boundary rope after catching a Ben Stokes skier.
Then one of the most insane things in cricket history as a throw in from the boundary rebounded off Stokes bat as he dived in and ran away for four.

On a tricky pitch, New Zealand found a way to amass 241-8, thanks to 55 from Henry Nicholls, 47 from Tom Latham and a few other handy contributions.
England needed 242 to win the 2019 men's cricket World Cup.

We had two attempts to separate us and still couldn't - it is what it is, the rules are there at the start and they probably never thought they would have to use them."

I have spoken a lot about uncontrollables and there were a couple today which were hard to swallow. England are deserved winners, take nothing away from them. It's one of those things, eh.
"The margins are so small but what you walk away with is the amount of heart that the guys have shown throughout the campaign."

"He's a freak of a talent. We were practicising our knuckle balls at the start of the tournament - me to try and use in two years, but he got Maxwell with it in the semi-final!"
