England have won 38, lost 11 and drawn one of their last 50 completed ODIs and they have won eight series in a row. It's the first bilateral series in 10 that India have lost.

England were 74-2 when Bairstow and Vince were out but Joe Root and Eoin Morgan played brilliantly.

They put on an unbeaten partnership of 186 to take England to victory.

Kuldeep Yadav, who took six wickets in the opening match of the series, was played with ease.

James Vince - if he'd got the full dive in, he was in. There was a way he could have got that single. He frustrates the life out of people because he has got the game to play at this level.

At the halfway stage England's target looked tricky but Jonny Bairstow and James Vince got Eoin Morgan's side off to a flying start before both falling tamely.

England's spinners have taken 34 wickets this summer - that's the most by English spinners in a domestic summer.

Adil Rashid continually gets key batsmen out at key times. That's where he's become so important for the team. Kohli was set - he was thinking 150. And then all of a sudden, some magic.

And from there it was over to Adil Rashid. He produced a beauty to bowl Virat Kohli and went on to take three wickets for 49 runs from his 10 overs.

David Willey also nipped in with three wickets as India were restricted to 256.

Then, with the score 84-1, Ben Stokes produced a moment of magic to break the Kohli-Dhawan partnership.

He ran out Dhawan for 44.

England started well in the match, dismissing the dangerous Rohit Sharma for just two, and restricting India in the opening 10 overs.

India were just 34-1 at the end of the 10th over.

But India then began to quietly accumulate through Shikhar Dhawan and captain Virat Kohli.

England captain Eoin Morgan, speaking at the presentation: "I think it was an outstanding performance. The bowlers set the tone early on. David Willey and Mark Wood hit their lines and lengths really well. From that point, there was no let up. We know the conditions here really well, so we managed to take advantage of that.

"The guys make my decisions look good. At Lord's, winning the toss and batting only looks good if the guys play well. I thought we got better as the series went on. Trent Bridge, we were off the mark, and India punished us. From there, we've learnt a lot."

On the World Cup: "Time wise, it's still a long way to go. We've got two important tours abroad and Pakistan at home. We need to be at our best to make any adjustments going into the World Cup."

Eoin Morgan describes England's performance as "outstanding" before smiling for photos with the trophy.

India captain Virat Kohli: "I thought we were never on the mark as far as runs were concerned. We were 25 or 30 less. England were clinical with bat, ball and in the field throughout. They deserved to win. We were not good enough. Against England you need to be at your best. Credit goes to them.

"They suffocated us through the middle overs really well. The two spinners bowled well in partnership."

On his team's three changes, Kohli said: "We thought Dinesh (Karthik) was going well. He had a good start. We though Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) was OK to play. It was a tactical decision and just didn't come off. That's how the game goes."

England's Joe Root, speaking at the presentation about the upcoming Test series: "It's going to be a great series. India have played some fantastic Test cricket and we're going to have to play really well. I feel like we did some good things against Pakistan at this ground and hopefully we can keep moving forward."

Joe Root on England's one-day team: "We have lots of hard work to do. The World Cup is a long way away. We have to concentrate and look to improve and keep developing as a side. It's vitally important we keep driving forward and when we get opportunists to be ruthless, like today, we drive it home."

Joe Root is the first England player to make centuries in successive one-day innings.

Joe Root on playing Kuldeep Yadav: "I felt I was picking him alright but my movements - I wasn't moving my feet quickly and that's ultimately the best way to play spin. I had a real think about how I was going to go about it and I manged to find a way to get back to where I want to be.""
