Reaction after Celtic earn Champions League win in Sarajevo

Neil Lennon is not willing to reveal any of his transfer targets, saying he's never heard of Sergio Quintero - a striker from Ecuador, who has been heavily linked with Celtic in the newspapers.

"We're looking at a number of positions," he says. "Hopefully we can get some business done sooner rather than later. Obviously, at the minute, the priority is to try and negotiate these qualifiers. And the more quality we have the better chance we'll have.

"You're always looking ahead and these are really tough times. You have to balance the squad. I have to make sure that everyone stays fit and that everyone gets enough game time. So that when the really tough games come along they're really ready."

Looking ahead to the second leg at Celtic Park, Neil Lennon is hoping he'll have even more options to pick from after a pre-season friendly with Stade Rennais on Saturday.

"It's a great position to be in," said the Celtic manager. "We've got a game on Saturday which is a good opportunity for some of the squad to get up to speed. And then we can look at the team for next week and hopefully negotiate that."

Celtic had to make a number of tactical changes after Boli Bolingoli and Mikey Johnston limped off with injuries. However, Lennon calmed any fears of serious injury.

"Mikey felt a tinge in his quad," he explains. "So we're hoping it's not too serious. Boli rolled his ankle in the first half and it just got progressively worse. And James [Forrest] was just fatigue more than anything else, so we didn't want to take any chances. So hopefully we're not too stretched on that side of things."

Some more from Neil Lennon, who is still rebuilding the squad at Celtic after being given the post for a second time after filling in following the sudden departure of Brendan Rodgers.

"We worked out the way that they were playing," he says. "We stopped trying to play the ball centrally and got the ball out wide to stretch them. We ended up wearing them down and it was a great start to the second half with Odsonne [Edouard's] goal.

"We had to fit a few square pegs in round holes because of where we are with the squad. I thought [Kristoffer] Ajer was unbelievable at right-back. Obviously that's not a long-term thing.

"But the attitude, fitness of the players and quality of the goals at the end. It's not easy. It was a really heavy pitch and difficult conditions. So, yeah, it was a really good start."

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is in a good mood following a comfortable victory.

Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland after the full-time whistle, he said: "I'm thrilled. Considering where we are, so early and against really decent opposition who are tactically smart and a big threat at set plays, it's a great performance.

"In the end our fitness shown through. We could have won by more. However, it's a brilliant performance away from home."

After falling behind this is an extremely positive outcome for Celtic. They're all but through barring a complete disaster in Glasgow.

The reaction to falling behind will be a big positive for Neil Lennon. No panic, but they owe a debt to Mikey Johnston for alleviating the pressure quickly with a brilliant goal.

That set the platform for what turned into a fairly routine win, the icing on the cake being Scott Sinclair's late, cheeky back heel which surely sees Celtic through.

It is surely all over and Celtic can relax to a degree in the return.

What about Rangers? They play their second leg at Ibrox on Thursday 18 July.

Steven Gerrard's men will then go on to face either Cork City or Progres Niederkon, who meet for their first leg in a couple of days.

Rangers might fancy a revenge mission against the team from Luxembourg, who famously shocked them in 2017.

After that solid comeback, Celtic can look forward to the home leg on Wednesday 17 July in positive mood.

We can probably dare to look ahead to the second round of Champions League qualifying and it looks like it will be Shkendija of Macedonia, who have won 1-0 away to Nomme Kalju in Estonia.

A good night's work for Celtic after a wobbly start. Having lost a cheap goal from a corner, Mikey Johnston levelled with a venomous shot, while Odsonne Edouard and Scott Sinclair pitched in with two more away goals after the interval.

Celtic get in a bit of a fankle at the back after some slack play but Scott Brown steps in to tidy up and soon the ball is up the other end with Odsonne Edoaurd skipping past his man to get a shot away. The angle is tight and the goalie is able to keep it out.

The home fans are still singing but the Sarajevo players look tired and dejected now. They know this tie is beyond them after shipping three goals this evening.

Kristoffer Ajer sets off on one of those mazy runs from defence but loses control deep in the opposition half and then slides in recklessly catching the toe of a man in maroon.

That was a cheap booking. Three yellows brings a suspension, remember.

The crowd are playing a part in a mini late rally from Sarajevo. A shout for a penalty was waived away correctly it seemed but they are gaining encouragement from the stands to push for an equaliser.

Celtic just need to slow it down and look to pick off Sarajevo if they go forward.

There's no need to take risks at this stage. 2-1 seems a fine result having been behind.
