  1. Post update

    What a final two fights!

Congratulations to Katie Taylor for that mature performance against Delfine Persoon, withstanding the barrage of unpredictable punches.

And congratulations to Alexander Povetkin for producing one of the great knockout blows in recent high-profile heavyweight contests.

Commiserations to Dillian Whyte who had fought so hard to get himself into a position for a world title shot.

    He goes again!

    Thanks for reading.

  2. 'Pulev is a world title challenger' - Joshua

British WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua speaking to Sky Sports on his forthcoming fight against Kubrat Pulev: "Everything is 10 out of 10. I'm back sparring. I can't wait. There's a potential date coming up - I'd like to go out in December. I would fight today if I could.

"During lockdown it was easy for me to get distracted. I box because i need it. I like to compete against the best. Pulev is a world title challenger. He's a tough challenge.

"The another challenge... I want to get my hands on Tyson Fury and the WBC belt."

  3. Get Involved

Naim Rahman: Speechless. Did not expect that at all. That KO was insane from Povetkin. Feel for Whyte as he's lost his title opportunity. But that's heavyweight boxing. One punch changes everything.

  4. Get Involved

    #bbcboxing

Dufferto: What a punch that was! Feel sorry for Whyte. He couldn’t get a title shot before this so what chance has he ever got now? He was dominating this one as well. That’s heavyweight boxing for you! Gotta love it!!

  5. 'We have a rematch clause' - Hearn

Promoter Eddie Hearn speaking to Sky Sports: "When the punch landed, I thought it was a dream. I can't believe it.

"Two heavy knockdowns from Whyte - people felt it was over. This is the drama of heavyweight boxing. One punch completely changed the fight. I felt confident Whyte would end the fight.

"It is a shock. He wasn't that much of an outsider - we knew how good Povetkin was. It was a thrilling knockout on a thrilling night.

"We have a rematch clause. Dillian said, 'give me a rematch, give me rematch'. We will exercise that clause - and have it before the end of the year.

"We know Povetkin won't be the immediate mandatory so that frees up Tyson Fury to fight Anthony Joshua if he beats Wilder."

    Whyte loses
  6. Fury v Povetkin next year?

    Andy Lee

Former middleweight world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

There's a difference in class when you compare Povetkin with Tyson Fury.

Tyson wants nobody else but Anthony Joshua - that fight has to be made for the good of boxing. Let Tyson beat Wilder and Joshua win his fight and then we will have the biggest fight in boxing history.

  7. 'Whyte will be kicking himself'

    Whyte knocked out

    Andy Lee

Former middleweight world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

Whyte will be feeling disbelief, it's the strangest thing when you've been knocked unconscious, its a crazy out of body experience, he'll be asking people what happened.

He will be kicking himself, that's a devastating knockout. He was so close to a world title for so long. It's a tragedy he was a contender for 1,000 days but he has rolled the dice just one too many times.

  8. Post update

Alexander Povetkin speaking to Sky Sports: "I didn't feel I would finish fight like this. I was confident in the fourth round even after going down twice.

On the final punch: "I was watching his fights and taking into account he was missing upper cuts from the left and right

One of the best punches in your career? Probably.

On the future: They don't depend on me. It's about my promoter and Eddie Hearn."

  9. Povetkin set up winning punch

    Whyte knocked out

    Andy Lee

Former middleweight world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

Whyte was winning the fight but it was a beautiful set-up by Povetkin. Whyte was braced for the body shot and was unprepared for the left hook Povetkin threw.

    Whyte down
  10. Post update

What now for Dillian Whyte? Forever a best man and never a groom?

    Both boxers will talk soon.

  11. Whyte is knocked out

Alexander Povetkin is officially declared the winner - after only four and a bit rounds of boxing. This was not in the script.

Should Whyte have gone for it when he had Povetkin literally and metaphorically on his knees?

  12. Whyte knocked out

They've just shown a repeat of Povetkin's left upper cut - what a punch!

Nobody gets up from that - I don't even think Fury would get up from that.

  13. 'I am in shock'

    Whyte knocked out

    Andy Lee

Former middleweight world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

I am in shock. That is a sensational upset. That's heavyweight boxing where one punch can change it all.

  14. Whyte knocked out

What an unbelievable turnaround. That was stranger than Joshua v Klitschko.

Whyte gets immediate medical aid - Povetkin goes over to see if he's OK.

    He's OK.

  15. 'Povetkin's best ever punch'

    Whyte knocked out

    Steve Bunce

BBC Radio 5 Live boxing pundit at Matchroom Fight Camp

There's no indication he was getting lazy, that was just a perfect shot, the best punch Povetkin has ever thrown.

  16. BreakingWhyte is knocked out

    Whyte v Povetkin

    Whyte is now DOWN!!!!!

Povetkin has landed an extraordinary upper cut!!!!

    IT'S OVER!!!!

    WHYTE HAS BEEN KNOCKED OUT!

  17. Post update

    Andy Lee

Former middleweight world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

Dillian saw Povetkin was hurt but not out of it so he took his time rather than rusung in. But you can see the two stone difference means Whyte's shots really have that extra force behind them.

  18. Round four

    Whyte v Povetkin

Povetkin is back on his feet - it's a case of hanging on for the stool.

Whyte isn't going for the 'finish him' move. Povetkin looks to attack but then is caught by a left upper cut which drops the Russian to the floor again.

He's back up. He needs the bell.

    It comes.
