"Rangers were the better side," admits Livingston manager Gary Holt on BBC Sportsound.

"We could have looked after the ball better and we didn't win enough second balls. The first and third goals were mistakes - take them away and we're in the game.

"I'll never point fingers at anyone. We all make mistakes. Liam Kelly has been phenomenal for us. You get your chin up and you move on.

"Scott Tiffoney has probably played his way into the team. He was tremendous when he came on and that was a stonewaller at the end.

"There's a few days left in the window but I'm happy with what we've got. We just need to get back to doing the ugly side of the game better."

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard tells Sky Sports: “I’m very pleased, I thought we were excellent.

“You have to defend very well, match them and earn the right to play. I had confidence we had enough quality to score goals, the challenge for the players was to come in and defend.

“We’ll take three goals and I’m very pleased with the clean sheet.

In terms of transfers and the approaching deadline, Gerrard adds: “We are content and satisfied. I’ll be surprised if anything happens. We’ll go with what we’ve got.

“The challenge for us is now finding consistency.”

Steven Gerrard's men did look more comfortable in their usual 4-3-3 formation today after going with two up top in Wednesday's loss at Kilmarnock.

A third home loss for Livingston and that's the first time they have been bettered by more than one goal on their own ground as Rangers pick up their fifth away victory of the season.

Scott Tiffoney is through and should be getting a shot off but elects to have another touch. Joe Worrall bundles the Livi sub over without getting anywhere near the ball but referee Kevin Clancy waves away the home shouts for what looks like a pretty clear penalty.

Scott Pittmann with a chance to draw one back for Livingston but Andy Halliday makes a terrific lunging block.

Soon after, Pittmann is in again and his rising shot is expertly saved by Allan McGregor, who has been a spectator for most of the afternoon.

Keaghan Jacobs crunches into Daniel Candeias just as the Portuguese winger looks to spring another Rangers counter-attack.

Andy Halliday takes over from Borna Barisic for the last eight minutes or so. The departing left-back delivered a couple of excellent crosses in the first half but has not been as prominent after the break.

He ignores them both and has a shot, which is deflected wide for a corner.

A couple of changes to strike fear into the tiring Livi defence as January signings Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe come on in place of scorers Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Livingston make their final change with Craig Sibbald replacing Chris Erskine.

Yet another excellent delivery from James Tavernier, this time from a free kick on the right touchline. Alfredo Morelos guides a header on target and Liam Kelly tips it over without too much fuss.
