    Charles Dagnall

BBC Test Match Special at Edgbaston

This is a really wonderful couple of weeks coming up. It's wide open.

  13. Post update

    Jeremy Coney

Ex-New Zealand captain on BBC Test Match Special

Santner, at the moment, isn't quite doing the job in terms of wickets in the middle. He's relying on Ferguson to do his bit. The fifth bowler - there's a slight question mark about the Neesham/De Grandhomme axis. There are a few little cracks in the New Zealand armoury.

You'd rather be in Pakistan's seat right now. You'd expect Pakistan, performing to their potential, to beat Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Whereas England losing to India, that wouldn't be a shocker to anyone - and likewise to New Zealand. Pakistan will feel really good about this.

  15. Post update

    Jeremy Coney

Ex-New Zealand captain on BBC Test Match Special

New Zealand need to improve their batting. They've tried to set twice and they're losing early wicket too often. They're being saved by partnerships a little bit, and usually one partnership. I feel that there are still question marks about the batting and when they'll be under pressure against England and Australia, their bowlers will put them under more pressure than New Zealand have had so far.

  16. Post update

Where do New Zealand go from here?

They've probably got enough points to go through but their final two games are against Australia and England so they might lose all momentum going into the semi-finals.

There were nine teams in 1992, though!

  18. Post update

    Charles Dagnall

BBC Test Match Special at Edgbaston

    The parallels with 1992 continue!

  19. 'One of the best innings I have ever seen'

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed: "The crowd always support us and get behind the team. Thank you very much to all the supporters. Fielding is very important, we had not fielded well as a unit in previous matches but worked hard and the way we took catches was great.

"Whenever we are in a corner we play our best, it was a great team effort. All the bowlers bowled well and there was some of the finest batting I have ever seen. 240 was not an easy target and we just wanted to play the 50 overs. Babar played one of the best innings I have ever seen. They handled the pressure so well.

"We are not thinking about 1992, we are going match by match."
