Dorset's councils committed to combined authority plan
Poole council's chief executive says Dorset's councils remain committed to creating a combined authority to oversee transport and economic issues in the county.
The plan - which is not related to proposals to cut the number of councils - would see the creation of a new authority involving representatives from all nine councils as well as the Local Enterprise Partnership.
Andrew Flockhart - who is also the lead officer for the Dorset Combined Authority - said officials were working to iron out technical issues with the proposal, which was submitted to government last year.
He said the creation of the combined authority was a "very different proposition" to cutting the number of councils from nine to two.

Identical in dimensions, one is a weather tight space for the artists, the other open for the public to use.
The structures remain at Buckler's Hard until 21 April.

The proposals - which are separate to plans to cut the number of councils in the county - were submitted to the government in July last year.

Gard lost his appeal earlier to have his nine-year sentence cut.

"We're glad it's over."
Gard, 30, from Alton was jailed on 5 September after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.
He had seven previous convictions for using a phone at the wheel.
