  1. Until tomorrow...

That's it for today's Music News LIVE page - if you're just joining us scroll down to find out more on the return of Jamiroquai and why some fans of The 1975 are angry.

And Simon from Biffy Clyro talks about his "weird, conceptual" solo project.

We'll be back at the same time on Wednesday seeing if we can top Callum Scott's culinary tips for local Hull cuisine.

  2. Callum Scott: 'Who doesn't love a penguin?'

    Callum Scott

Up against Rockabye in the Brit Awards best British single category is Callum Scott with his cover of Robyn's Dancing on My Own.

The Britain's Got Talent contender says his first album is "90% finished" and he's looking forward to a homecoming gig back in Hull, which is the City of Culture this year.

He told our music reporter Mark Savage what his top tip was if you're visiting the city.

Quote Message: They should go to The Deep, which is our submarium – an aquarium underwater. It’s quite cool. They’ve got penguins. Who doesn’t like a penguin? And we’ve got this thing called Chip Spice up there. It’s kind of like Peri Peri salt, but we had it way before Nando's. So come down to Hull.
  3. Anne-Marie gets 'sweaty' over Brits nomination

    Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie has admitted she was shocked that she was nominated for her own Brit Award.

She's up for British breakthrough act against Blossoms, Rag 'N' Bone Man, Skepta and Stormzy.

She did think Clean Bandit's Rockabye, on which she sings, would get a nomination (and it did it's up for best British single) but she said her own nomination was a total surprise which left her "really sweating".

Rockabye was at number one for nine weeks including the Christmas number one but was toppled by Ed Sheeran before the 10th week.

She told our music reporter Mark Savage she had forgiven Ed.

Quote Message: I love Ed and we’re really good friends. I said to him, if there was anyone going to knock me off, then it’s fine for it to be him. I love Shape Of You, so I’m fine. I’M FINE!

Anne-Marie also explained what she thought the secret of Rockabye’s success was.

Quote Message: I think it had a really strong message. What’s good about pop music is, if you want, you can put a really deep message in there and reach as many people as possible - which is what I want to do. So hopefully it’s that. But it is really catchy, and it has Sean Paul on it.

Sean Paul said he wanted to appear on it because he was raised by a single mum and Anne-Marie explained what her connection was to the song.

Quote Message: It means a lot to me because I really love good humans, and I have a lot of friends who were raised just by their mums. All I wanted was a song to help people through if they’re ever feeling a bit down or they’re struggling, and that’s what it did for me.

  5. Biffy Clyro frontman's 'weird' solo project

    NME

    Simon Neil Biffy Clyro

Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil has given more details on what to expect from his "weird" solo project as ZZC.

He told the NME it is definitely not mainstream.

Quote Message: I’ve got a seven and a half minute masterpiece I call ‘The Myth’ – it’s this neo-classical thing that goes into a little bit of math-rock. I think it’s one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever written. It started as a score for an imaginary movie.

He said he is going to do some live shows for it which will be "a lot more conceptual".

Quote Message: I’ve got a few really, really cool ideas for it. It’s going to be almost like the Pet Shop Boys. I’m going to be singing like Neil Tennant and my wife Francesca’s going to be like Chris Lowe at the back. She’s going to look like the girl from The Ring. I’m giving this all away now, but I’m going to get projections of people playing instruments and as I move around the stage I’m gonna join in.

The Guardian report Mill said he'd be willing for a $5m prize.

However they and the New York Post think neither match will actually happen because of boxing rules and money issues.

  11. Springsteen tribute band pull out of inauguration

    Rolling Stone magazine

    The B Street Band

We told you on Monday how Broadway singer and actress Jennifer Holliday had pulled out of performing at US president-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Friday.

    Well another day, another act.

Now the Bruce Springsteen cover band The B Street Band have also withdrawn.

Will Forte, the group's 63-year-old keyboardist, manager, agent and publicist told Rolling Stone that the group had played the gala twice before and signed a contract for this year's gig in 2013, long before the presidential nominees were decided.

But "as time went by, the complexity of the situation became real immense and intense," he said.

Bruce Springsteen has spoken out against Mr Trump and the band decided out of respect for their musical inspiration, they had to pull out.

Quote Message: "We had to make it known that we didn't want to seem disrespectful, in any way, shape or form, to Bruce and his music and his band. I don't want to upset them. We owe everything to him and our gratitude and respect to the band is imperative above all else. It became clear to us that this wasn't working and we just had to do what we thought was the right thing to do and that was to pull out."

  12. Guess who's back people?

    Q Magazine

    Q Magazine

    Liam Gallagher

That's right, the Prince of Britpop himself Liam Gallagher will perform alongside fellow Manc frontman Richard Ashcroft again very soon.

Aside from occasional humourous tweets (like the picture above) Gallagher junior has taken a break from the limelight since the demise of his post Oasis outfit Beady Eye, but recently confirmed he is working on his first solo album.

The pair go way back to when an unknown Verve and Oasis toured together in the early 90s and now Ashcroft has confirmed to Q Magazine that he will perform alongside his old mucker once again later in the year.

    Richard Ashcroft

Ashcroft, who will play a series of UK shows this summer, said: “I played a show with Noel a few months ago and I’m playing with Liam later in the year.

“I wouldn’t be daft enough to give Liam any advice on going solo. He can just be himself and do what he loves and people will connect to it.

Quote Message: We miss those characters, those people with an opinion. Most people just don’t [give an opinion] unless they believe they’re getting some sort of PC credit. Then they’re out there, appeal after appeal, holding babies and making everyone feel really guilty and miserable around Christmas.”

Liam recently criticized brother Noel for signing up to support U2, but now seems set to do the same himself for Wigan's finest.

The pair are already on the same bill at Norway's Bergenfest on 14 June but no UK dates together have been confirmed as yet.

However Richard's word is good enough for us for now.

You'd be a Lucky Man to see both in one evening.

  14. Notting Hill Carnival safety warning

    Notting Hill Carnival

A report into violence at the Notting Hill Carnival in London last year has led to safety warnings from the police about the festival.

The London Assembly Police and Crime Committee revealed that four people were severely injured after being stabbed at last year's event and said violence has increased to the extent that it is now at a "tipping point".

The report said the Carnival organisers must be given more support and called on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to draw up a public safety plan.

The Mayor's office has ordered a review - but has ruled out cancelling the festival or moving it to another site.

DF Concerts confirmed in November that the festival will not take place this year.

The promoter has now been asked to pay back £50,000 of the grant.

Mr Georgiou grew up with Michael and the two referred to each other as cousins. He added: "I just think he took too much of something, mixed with antidepressants."
