Zaza Mhin: Would England have won against this Japan team if they were 2-0 down? Perhaps coming 2nd in the group might be fortunate
'Devastated'
Belgium 3-2 Japan
Japan coach Akira Nishino: "I am devastated. Yes we took the lead but we couldn't win. It might have been a very small difference but I felt there was nothing in it. Maybe it was my decisions as a coach or my tactics, and we couldn't keep up with Belgium, who upped their game."

Colin B: Wonderful game. Japanese players must be very tough. I don't recall anyone rolling around in agony when one of the opposition has the audacity to challenge for the ball
Gregory's goals: Lukaku is now the only person who can realistically stop Kane getting the golden boot and he's LEAVING the ball to set up a teammate? Bizarre. Sometimes personal glory should come first.

Belgium 3-2 Japan
Japan coach Akira Nishino: "My players can run if it is a long run or a number of sprints. Our players are strong but to exploit those sprints in the game is another matter. We need skills, tactics, how we are going to pass is more important."

Bishnu: Japan bows out with their head held high. They were brilliant until the last minute. Hopefully this will reenergise Asian football. I am interested to know what Iniesta brings to J League.
Amrul: Uruguay v France at 3pm on Friday? I feel as though I am coming down with something..

Anyone already looking forward to the BBC end of tournament montage?
Deliver me the drama
There have now been nine 90th minute winning goals in the 2018 World Cup.
There were just 10 in the previous five tournaments combined (1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014).
The final stages...
As fans continue to stream away from the Rostov Arena, either racked with joy or crestfallen in despair, the whole of the exterior of the ground is projecting messages. A stunning sight.
We now know six of the last eight.
Uruguay v France
Brazil v Belgium
Russia v Croatia
Sweden/Switzerland v Colombia/England
