  2. Post-match analysis from the Glasgow count

Former SNP MSP Duncan Hamilton says there is marginal disappointment, perhaps, that the SNP did not get an overall majority in Glasgow, but stresses the SNP has got the most votes and seats across Scotland.

Mr Hamilton says: "It is on any view a victory for the SNP."

He says the story of the election in Scotland is the loss of Labour votes to the Tories.

Tory MSP Adam Tomkins says the Conservative gains have largely come from Labour.

Mr Tomkins says there are now eight Tory councillors in Glasgow, up seven from one.

He says there is no "no-go area" in Scotland for the Conservatives.

Former Labour MP Tom Harris says he thinks the Greens will go into coalition with the SNP in Glasgow without any hesitation.

Mr Harris says for Labour to have retreated "to a fairly firm base" and says this is "a little bit of a silver lining, but of course it is a dark cloud".

The first minister says the SNP is going to emerge from this election with more votes than any other party.

Ms Sturgeon says: "That is a pretty clear and emphatic win."

She says the SNP have not lost ground to the Tories, saying "the question about the Tory support are questions for Labour, whose vote has collapsed".

Ms Sturgeon says the performance of the SNP today is a great springboard for the general election campaign.
