  1. That's all folks

So, Chelsea and Liverpool both make it to the last 16. It wasn't easy for either but it is job done.

Not quite as much drama on offer tomorrow for Tottenham and Manchester City but you should still join us anyway for our coverage.

We'll be with you at 17:00 GMT.

    Night all.

  2. Emulating Uncle 'Arry

    Chelsea 2-1 Lille

Frank Lampard is the first English manager to progress a team from a Champions League group stage (having taken charge of all six group games) since Harry Redknapp with Spurs in 2010-11.

  3. 'We need competition in creative areas'

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Chelsea

Frank Lampard on where Chelsea need to strengthen: "The transfer window will be a bit fluid and there will be discussions about where we can strengthen.

"We lost a lot of goals and creativity with Eden [Hazard]. We need more competition in those creative areas."

On hopes for the next round: "I don't mind the idea of taking on a big team. That is what the Champions League is all about.

"We should be happy we are through and whoever comes our way we will give it our all against them.

"That is the beauty of the Champions League. It is such a high level. The things our young players learn from these big games are going to be invaluable in their careers.

"For me, though, getting through the group stages is a huge thing, not just for myself and the players, but for the club. This is a big club and it is great to be able to meet those expectations that we have created here."

On management: "As a manager you realise the work that goes in behind the scenes - all the work that you put in and the staff put in to prepare for each game. You realise now that footballers have it easier - not as easy as the pundits - but it life is definitely easier as a player, you understand that more as a manager."

  4. 'There will be bumps in the road'

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Chelsea

More from Frank Lampard: "I was interested to see our attitude and how we approached the game and it was all there.

"We completely dominated the first half and at half-time we were very comfortable.

"It was then a case of can we push on and in the second half we didn't manage to do that.

"So it's going to be a work in progress. With the young players we have in this side there will be bumps in the road. I push them and can be quite hard on them, setting the high standards I want to see them reach, but at the same time I have to be patient.

"Today was a sign of how much work we still have got to do. It should have been a calmer finish to the game and that is the biggest thing, for me, that we need to improve."

    More to follow.

  5. 'We need to take our chances better'

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard talking to BT Sport: "It did get twitchy. We need to take our chances better. At 2-0 I thought it was not quite done and when Lille scored it made it a more nervy finish to the game than it needed to be."

    More to follow.

  6. Post update

    Chelsea 2-1 Lille

Frank Lampard has just told BT Sport he doesn't mind the idea of getting a big team in the last 16. He is likely to get his wish.

How about renewing hostilities with Barcelona?

  7. 'Champions League is where Chelsea belong'

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Chelsea

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta on BT Sport: "Champions League is where Chelsea belong. We know it was a tough group - last year's semi-finalists Ajax have been knocked out.

"We had to fight and recover after losing against Valencia at home in our first game. But now we are in the last 16 the focus has to switch back to the Premier League until the competition starts again next year."

  8. 'I can't wait for the next round'

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Tammy Abraham talking on BT Sport: "I'm very excited to be in the next round. We came into the match needing to win and thankfully we did. Now I can't wait for the next round.

On his goal: "It's just about getting into the box. Luckily for me I was in the right place at the right time.

On conceding late in the game:"For us it is about sticking with it. We started so well, sometimes we just need to kill off games and to do that we need to score more goals."

  9. Post update

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Players don't like to play against Tammy Abraham because he likes to run in behind and he scores goals.

He's been brilliant so far for Chelsea and i thought he was brilliant.

But I like Pulisic. Pulisic and Kante were the two outstanding players for me.

Nii: Lampard played under Jose, but seems to forget Jose principles. “What we have, we hold”. This all out attack by Lampard team is giving Chelsea supporters a heart attack.

Chris Arkwright: Better Chelsea performance, but still really need to kill off these games need to be clinical and learn to shut up shop when 2:0.

  11. Drama elsewhere...

Lyon and Dortmund through; Benfica and Inter into Europa League

A dramatic evening of Champions League football around the continent. Lyon looked doomed and were 2-0 down at home to RB Leipzig, a result that would've left the French team bottom of the group and finished their involvement in European competition this season.

But two goals, including one in the 82nd minute from Memphis Depay to grab a 2-2 draw, sees them jump from fourth to second to join Leipzig in the last 16. Zenit St Petersburg, who lost 3-0 at Benfica, were eight minutes away from the last 16, but they now finish bottom with the Portuguese side in the Europa League.

Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 win over Slavia Prague is enough for them to reach the last 16 as Inter Milan lost 2-1 at home to Barcelona so it's the Europa League for Inter.

Abdul Said: This year we have two Champions league competitions, one is on Tuesday and Wednesday and one on Thursday, with Ajax and Inter in the latter.

  13. Post update

Benfica and RB Salzburg won't be high on many sides wish list for the next round either, mind.

  14. Post update

So which of the Europa League sides fancy coming up against Ajax and Inter then?

  15. Post update

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Credit to these players and credit to Frank Lampard.

If you had said when the campaign started that they would have got something I would have been very surprised.

They have been in a tough group with Ajax and Valencia but Frank Lampard has done a terrific job with this team.

Reg: Moe at 9:25, Abraham isn’t even the third best English striker we have. Jamie Vardy is still having a party and would be above him if he got recalled!

Harrison Short: Is this the best finale to the Champions League group stage we've ever had? Amazing drama and still could go a number of ways.

Guido van Asselt: Looks like Ajax and Inter in the Europa League. that is no Champions league football for Man Utd next year then

  17. Post update

    Chelsea 2-1 Lille

That was a lot harder work than it needed to be. Chelsea had complete control but let it slip, with Loic Remy giving Lille hope.

But the Blues make it, sealing a last-16 spot, to join Liverpool.

Ajax, though, last season's semi-finalists, are out. Valencia join the Blues in the next round.

  18. FULL-TIME

    Chelsea 2-1 Lille

    Job done. Just.

  19. Post update

    Chelsea 2-1 Lille

Into the last minute of added time. No rush now from the Blues, who have the ball in Lille territory and intend to keep it there.

  20. Depay goal puts Lyon on the brink of the last 16

Lyon 2-2 RB Leipzig / Benfica 3-0 Zenit St Petersburg

Drama too in Group G. A minute ago, Lyon were fourth, now they are second as ex-Manchester United man Memphis Depay has equalised against RB Leipzig. Lyon were two down.

Zenit were second but now, because of a worse head-to-head record against Benfica, drop down to fourth.
