Chris Stead: Mexico v USSR - the first game of the 1970 WC watched on a tiny black and white TV in the kitchen of a caravan near Littlehampton. 0-0 and not a thriller as I recall; but then I was only 8!
Keith Markham: Mexico 1970 - Dad carrying TV downstairs every morning - took it to bed each night. Also W.Germany 3 England 2. In hospital to have tonsils taken out wasn’t allowed to watch as in kids ward while adults in next ward watching the match.
Phil: #MyFirstWorldCup was 1970. My father taught electronics, and had wired up a colour TV to watch, with wires and valves exposed at the back.
I'll never forget Brazil back then, so exotic and miles better than the rest. Jairzinho amazed me. Scored in every game.
