  1. Good night

That's us closing down this page for the evening.

Follow the second half of Chelsea v Newcastle here and I'll see you back on Sunday...

  2. 'Tarkowski won us the match'

    Burnley 2-1 Fulham

    James tarkowski

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "It was tough to go down so early in the game to a fine goal but the reaction was great. We got a lucky break in the end but it was good play in the build-up.

"Fulham came at us in the second half, they opened the pitch up and asked qustions of us. We dealt with it well.

"It was really tough conditions for both teams. The game was summed up by James Tarkowski's block on the line. That reminds us of the qualities we have. It was worth a goal and won us the match."

  3. 'We expect better'

    Leicester 1-2 Southampton

    Leicester City

Leicester City captain Wes Morgan, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's very frustrating. We weren’t at our best in the first half and conceded two sloppy goals.

"In the second half we came out and it was relentless attack from us. They had 10 men. It’s a natural reaction to sit back and defend a lead. It's difficult to break down but we expect better from ourselves.

"We need to sort ourselves out. For one reason or another we can't get the results at home we expect of ourselves. It is something we need to address."

  4. 'We don't have a pot full of cash'

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford

    Crystal Palace

    Roy HOdgson

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson: "Tom Cleverley scores a wonder goal. They happen in football matches and there’s not much you can do about them. Watford are a good team and they held out and got the victory.

"Every game has those stories at the end but it’s the goals you have scored and those you have conceded. We probably needed to create more chances to get the second goal, Watford were good on the counter attack. They’ll probably point to the early chance which hit the post and they had one cleared off the line. We have to accept we could have won but it’s also a game you can lose and we did.

"The fact is we have known all along it is going to be a long season. We are in a group that could make the top half or if some are unlucky, could find themselves in the relegation battle. We have always known that and know we have to keep fighting and make certain every game we play is difficult for opponents.

"Like every other club we are working at transfers and to maximise any opportunities that might arise. It is not easy and we don’t have a pot full of cash to pluck out any player in the world. It has to be someone who is available and available for us.

"All I can do is hope Doug Freedman and the scouting staff and Chairman find that person, but I don’t envy them. The squad we have is good enough. We had Christian Benteke back today for 15 minutes, Connor Wickham is still around, Jordan Ayew did well. It is not like we don’t have anybody but it would be nice to add a new face or two with five going out."

  5. 'Not enough contact for a penalty'

    Cardiff 0-0 Huddersfield

    Cardiff City

    Nei lWarnock

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock to Match of the Day on the penalty that Huddersfield were awarded before referee Lee Mason changed his mind: "I think it is good there was an experienced linesman. There was not enough contact for a penalty and the linesman made him change his mind. If that had won them the game I would've been disappointed.

"But I think there was a clear penalty for us on Junior Hoilett - the lad (Florent Hadergjonaj) did not see him coming and took him out.

"I'm disappointed - we didn't play very well, we had one or two players with injuries but they gave me a shift and if you cannot win a game you have to keep a clean sheet.

"Hopefully I will get a few players in. We're trying hard and will continue to do that, you can see we need help."

  6. 'I want to work with these players'

    Leicester 1-2 Southampton

    Leicester City

Leicester City manager Claude Puel, speaking to MOTD, is asked if he feels under pressure: "It's not my concern, no comment. I'm just focused and concentrating on my team.

"I want to work with these players. It's football. The fans are like us - disappointed and frustrated."

On the result: "It's a big disappointment. We wanted to give a good response after the FA Cup against Newport.

"It's difficult to accept the second goal we conceded. We had a lot of chances and opportunities.

"It was important to try and manage this game with intensity in our passes. It was difficult to be clinical and maybe we needed a bit more movement in the box.

"It's important to find good moves and understanding and communication."

  7. Penalty reversal 'a big mistake' - Wagner

    Cardiff 0-0 Huddersfield

    Huddersfield Town

    Lee Mason

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner to Match of the Day on the penalty decision where his side were awarded a spot kick - then had it overturned: "To be honest I'm not the right person to ask the question. There are four people in black and you have to ask them what was going on.

"I spoke to the linesman during the match and he said 'the first incident was not a foul and the second I don't know' but I don't know what he means. It was clearly a penalty, the video footage speaks for itself and we have not got it. It makes no sense to waste my energy for something like this, but it was a big mistake.

"I really can't find the words how this can happen. The fourth official had no idea either, he was as surprised as everyone else was. Decisions like this make tables and seasons. We have had so many decisions against us and I don't know why.

"The boys left everything on the grass, and only one team deserved something out of the game. One point is not enough, we needed to win."

  8. 'It's hard to take'

    Burnley 2-1 Fulham

    Abdre Schurrle

Fulham goalscorer Andre Schurrle: "It's hard to take for sure. We came with a lot of ambition and got ahead but then we didn't play a good game in the first half.

"In the second half we just coudn't score. We did everything else right.

"It was one of my best goals but it doesn't matter, we lost. We want to play football, in the pockets, we can build on that but it needs 90 minutes of that, not only one half."

  9. 'Devastating for us'

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford

    Crystal Palace

    Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka speaking to the Premier League:

"In the first half we did well to get the goal but let it go at the end with the two goals which was devastating for us.

"My aim was to defend first and attack when I can. The chances we get, we have to take whether they are scruffy or not.

"It is good to have Christian Benteke back, we know his strengths and we can use them for aerial battles. I thought he played well."

  10. 'We never give up'

    Burnley 2-1 Fulham

    Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri on Sky Sports: "Football is fantastic. We deserved more but that's football.

"They had three chances and scored two own goals. We are alive, we never give up and we continue to fight.

"I am satisfied with our performance. We knew it would be a battle, they won so they are right and we are wrong."

  11. 'Bulk of decisions favoured Liverpool'

    FT: Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

    Brighton & Hove Albion

    Mo Salah

Brighton manager Chris Hughton speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we restricted them to minimal chances and we were always in the game. I thought on the balance of play we deserved to get something from it.

"They have got lots of moments of real quality because of the players they have got. For the majority of the game we were able to do that. You just hope that you get some yourselves.

"We made a real attempt to get back on level terms. We deserved to get something."

On the referee: "There was no intent but sometimes you feel things don't go your way. I felt it was one of those days. I have no malice towards the referee but I felt the bulk of the decisions favoured Liverpool today."

  12. 'It was our moment'

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford

    Watford

    Jose Holebas

Watford manager Javi Gracia speaking to BBC MOTD:

"I think we had the confidence during the game, we started by conceding an own goal but after that the level was the same and in the second half we got the reward with two amazing goals. I am very happy with the performance and attitude of my players.

"All the games against Crystal Palace are always very equal, today was again. After conceding the first goal it was more difficult but we knew this team are conceding more goals in this period and it was our moment. We created enough chances to win the game."

When asked if it was good management to bring on Tom Cleverley:

"No, good player! The first half we had very good chances to score, and started the game with one clear chance to score. We continue and believe we are able to win the game and Tom was very important in that moment, like against Bournemouth. He is playing well after a long period injured. He is recovering his best condition.

"All my players deserve more time to play as they are all working very hard to play. I felt the best option was Tom and he scored an amazing goal.

"The next game is against Burnley, step by step and this is the best mentality to achieve what we want at the end of the season."

  13. KICK-OFF

    Chelsea 0-0 Newcastle

It's under way at the Bridge - follow that match over here.

  14. 'Unbelievable'

    Burnley 2-1 Fulham

    Fulham

    Joe Bryan own goal

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri to BBC Sport: "It is unbelievable. We scored a geat goal and then suddenly two own goals. It's unbelievable. We had the chance to draw the match but we hit the crossbar.

"We played so well in the second half but they saved it on the line. It is OK, we have to react.

"I know what is so hard but we started very well, that's it. Andre Schurrle scored a fantatsic goal, a geat goal.

"I think the table is good question. The answer is to continue to work, fight and never go up."

  15. 'Our performances need to be better'

    Cardiff 0-0 Huddersfield

    Cardiff City

    Lee Mason

Cardiff captain Sean Morrison: "We wanted to take three points but with our performance we didn't deserve to win the game and we're disappointed. Huddersfield played with a lot less pressure, it was an all-or-nothing performance from them.

"We've got better players than we have shown today and if we want to stay in the Premier League our performances need to be better and we need to create chances."

On the penalty Huddersfield were awarded before referee Lee Mason changed his mind, Morrison added: "From my point of view it was not a penalty. It was two or three yards before he went down. The referee gave it, spoke to a linesman and overturned it."

  16. 'We are not childish anymore'

    FT: Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Match of the Day: "You have to work hard if you want to be successful and we were ready for it. Be ready for the defending, be ready for the counter-press and be ready to make solutions.

"I think it was the most mature performance we have made so far. There were a few situations where we could have been a bit more inspired, creative and cool. But we controlled the game in a better way when we scored the goal.

"It was not too easy as 1-0 is not a massive result and it gives the opposition an opportunity to strike back. We gave away a lot of set-pieces.

"We know we can control the game and we are not that childish anymore. We could have done better but I am fine because the target is to win here. We had to perform and deliver and we did that."

On winning scrappy games: "We have to do what we have to do on the specific day and it depends how the game develops. We have to work. These 1-0s are brilliant. It was not that good, we have to improve but we deserved to win. In an away game in the Premier League, that's all you want.

"It is still a game. With all the things we are making around it. The game is a game. The only thing we can do is to try everything. We cannot do more."

On being seven points clear: "It means nothing. We take all the points. That's the situation. It's cool but we know that the difference tomorrow and Monday night could be different. We can only concentrate on ourselves."

  17. 'We deserved something'

    FT: Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Chris Hughton speaking to Match of the Day: "It is a very disappointed changing room. They were going to have some chances and the ones we felt they did have was when we made it a more open games.

"We were always in the game and were very competitive. I felt we deserved something. Pascal Gross is up against arguably the best player in the country in that position so he needs some help. These are the moments in the game that Liverpool find because of the quality they have got.

"These are the best team in the country. I am conscious of where we are. We have developed well. We have to stay in the game and be compact and look for moments. I thought we had that today."

On Brighton's performance and season so far: "I am incredibly proud. Particularly today. They worked hard to stay in the game, get chances and make it a game. We go into another huge challenge in a week's time at Manchester United. If I get the same next week I will be absolutely delighted.

"The only mark I always think about is 40 points. That has been the average. It is a better mark as opposed to something less than that. It is about every game and trying to get as many points.

"Upwards is not really where I look. I think our development is about making that gap from the bottom three as big as possible and it's about our performance."

  18. 'I'm proud of my players'

    Leicester 1-2 Southampton

    Southampton

    Hasenhuttl

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, speaking to MOTD: "I'm unbelievably proud of my players.

"To be manager of this team, it's a fantastic job. Today they showed their quality. To go 2-0 in the lead at Leicester is not easy and we defended with fantastic commitment."

On Shane Long's contribution: "I said to Shane 'you deserve to score today because you worked so hard in the week'." He is quick and has good headers. It was a really good game for him."

Hasenhuttl also said that he expected teenage defender Yan Valery to receive a warning instead of a second yellow card.

  19. 'The goal is doubly sweet'

    Crystal Palace 1-2 Watford

    Watford

Watford goalscorers Tom Cleverley and Craig Cathcart speaking to Sky Sports:

    Cleverley:

"It is a really big win for us especially seeing West Ham win and go above us, so to go behind at Selhurst Park, we know it was going to be tough so to get the win is really pleasing.

"We have got great character in the squad and we never know when we are beaten.

"The goal is doubly sweet because I have had such a tough year, to score the winner I am really pleased.

"The tables turn but the three points count, we don’t worry about last year. We play the right way from the first minute to the last."

    Cathcart:

"The own goal was just one of them where it was a bit of a scramble, I have tried to clear it and it hits me and goes in. We showed great character to get back into it in the second half.

"You want to try and get on the end of something in the other box and I managed to get a good ball into the goal. We go through set pieces (in training) to hurt the opposition and it seems to be paying off."

  20. 'Liverpool needed a scruffy win'

    Dion Dublin

Ex-Aston Villa striker on Final Score

Going to Brighton and not getting a convincing win and getting a scruffy, hard fought win is exactly what Liverpool needed.

It's quite satisfying getting wins like this, you go to the dressing room after and say to each other 'yes, that's satisfying'.

City will not care about this result and will go out there on Monday and play their own game.
