Liverpool trail their Champions League last 16 tie 1-0 after the first leg, but manager Jurgen Klopp says the Anfield crowd "will be our advantage".

"Not a lot of them [Atletico players] have played at Anfield before and that is what we want to use," he said.

"Our crowd will be our advantage and we have to use it with the performance on the pitch. It has to be exceptional because they defend deep and have counter-attack threat. Each player can be dangerous and they are an experienced team.

"They know how to deal with it all. I have the highest respect for them but there are always ways and we have to find them tomorrow night. We have to show we have really learned from the first half [game]."

Asked about potential disruption because of coronavirus, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “Players at the moment are all healthy. 22 players not shaking hands is not a sign for society. Are we all in the same boat? Whatever will be decided, we will respect (games being cancelled, playing in empty stadiums).

"It’s clear that we will accept that but I don’t know how much sense it will make in this moment. That’s how it is. It’s not about me as a manager, it’s about being a human being. Somethings are more important than football and we realise that in this moment. We need time to find a solution for that. I don’t know enough.”

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed first choice goalkeeper Alisson will not be fit for the upcoming Merseyside derby, or the Champions League last 16 second leg with Atletico Madrid.

However, club captain Jordan Henderson will be ready and available to face Atletico.

Evangelos Marinakis has since posted a statement on his Instagram account, saying he had been "visited" by the virus...

Olympiakos' Europa League last 16 first leg against Wolves will be played behind closed doors on Thursday (20:00 GMT).

As well as owning Nottingham Forest, Evangelos Marinakis is also the owner of Greek club Olympiakos.

Marinakis was at the City Ground for Forest's 3-0 defeat to Millwall last Friday, and he also watched Olympiakos beat Arsenal in the Europa League last 32 at the Emirates on 27 February.

Marinakis reportedly came into contact with some of the Gunners' players, but the north London club have since said none of their players have "reported any symptoms".

A Nottingham Forest club statement said: "Mr [Evangelos] Marinakis was diagnosed after showing the first symptoms on his return to Greece yesterday afternoon. During his short stay in Nottingham last week he did not show any symptoms of the virus.

"The club are seeking advice from medical professionals and the relevant governing bodies to ensure the correct measures are taken.

"Until this time the club will be making no further comment."

Asked about coronavirus causing potential disruption in the Premier League, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola added: "In Spain it’s started with the games behind closed doors. It has happened already in Italy. I think it will happen here.

"If Uefa say we have to play without spectators, we will. I would love to play with our fans. If it happens for a long time it makes no sense, but health is the most important thing. Getting it right in each country day by day."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he would prefer matches to be postponed rather than played behind closed doors.

Having seen coronavirus affect matches across Europe, Guardiola feels it is only a matter of time before the Premier League is affected.

"Does football work without spectators?" he said.

"If the people can’t come there is no sense. We will follow what we have to do but I wouldn’t like to do it without the people."

Asked if he had ever managed a side in front of no fans, Guardiola said: "When I was a little boy at school."

Former Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta will return to the Etihad for the first time since becoming Arsenal manager, and Guardiola says he is looking forward to the Spaniard's return.

"I said three or four years ago he would be a manager when the right opportunity came for him," he said.

"I am pretty sure Arsenal will have success with him.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says key man Kevin de Bruyne is training but he does not know if the Belgian midfielder will be fit to face Arsenal.

Meanwhile, striker Sergio Aguero is "OK".

Q: Why is the Champions League Final always more exciting (except 2019) than the FA Cup Final, when it's meant to be more nerve wracking? - David

A: You’re right David, we’ve had a couple of one sided FA Cup finals over the last 5 years, with Arsenal thrashing Aston Villa in 2015 and Manchester City storming past Watford last season but you never seem to get that sort of game in Champions League finals. Even the 4-1 between Real Madrid and Juventus back 2017 felt close for most of the game, I watched it in Turin surrounded by Juve fans and they had a belief that they could get back into it until the final 10 minutes. Why is it is a tough one? It might be something to do with the gap there normally is between the end of the season and the Champions League final allowing more preparation or time to rest? You’re nearly always going to get two in form teams as well, which sometimes isn’t the case in the FA Cup final. Maybe it’s that?

The Champions League is in great shape at the moment though generally in terms of delivering entertainment. We’ve had some epic knockout games in recent seasons. That’s why I just hope nobody messes with the format in the next few years. Sadly that seems inevitable.
