Match ends, Uruguay 4, Ecuador 0.
Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani scored as Uruguay thrashed 10-man Ecuador 4-0 in their Group C Copa America opener.
Nicolas Lodeiro opened the scoring early on before Uruguay made the most of their player advantage, as an Arturo Mina own goal completed the rout.
Ecaudor's Jose Quintero was sent off for an elbow on 24 minutes after the referee consulted VAR.
In Group B, Paraguay squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar.
Uruguay - who have won the Copa America a record 15 times - started strongly in Belo Horizonte, with Seattle Sounders midfielder Lodeiro scoring in just the sixth minute,
Quintero then received a red card for a flailing arm. The 28-year-old had initially been shown a yellow, but it was converted to red after referee Anderson Daronco consulted VAR.
Paris St-Germain's Cavani scored an acrobatic bicycle-kick before Barcelona forward Luis Suarez tapped home a record 57th international goal to make it 3-0 before half-time.
Mina's volleyed own goal in the 78th minute compounded Ecuador's miserable night.
Ecuador head coach Hernan Dario Gomez said his side were "not as bad as that" with the game "getting away from us" after the sending off.
Paraguay scored through an Oscar Cardozo penalty and a Derlis Gonzalez strike but Asian champions Qatar - who received an invite to the 12-team South American tournament along with Japan - hit back through Almoez Ali and a calamitous Rodrigo Rojas own goal.
Colombia beat Argentina 2-0 on Saturday in Group B's other game.
Monday is a Copa America rest day before Bolivia face Peru in Group A on Tuesday (22:30 BST) and Chile take on Japan in Group C in the final game of the first round of matches (00:00 BST, Tuesday).

Odd that.
Yes I totally agree. BBC, why DO you publicise heavily the Women's World Cup, yet offer NO opportunity to comment on it via HYS ?
BBC, what are you afraid of ?
It appears Suarez & Cavani only play for Uruguay.
Whereas Messi is the Argentina team.
For those asking why the Women's World Cup reports have no HYS, I will tell you: many of the comments were nothing to do with the match and involved the phrase "liberal agenda". For those interested in discussing the football, it became more tiresome than even the Brexit HYS groundhog day.
Are you being deliberately obtuse.
The original poster that 33 was replying to wasn't using license as a verb, was he? He used it as a noun, in which case he should have used licence.
License is the American spelling of both the noun and the verb, which is why he said he hated American spellings being used in this country. It's really not difficult to understand.
There are good public service reasons to promote women playing the national game beyond current levels of skill or crowd size.
I have two young daughters and it is proving very powerful for them to see quality coverage of women playing sport and to hear the players’ stories etc. With increasing obesity, mental health issues and so on we need to encourage young girls into sport.
For those wondering why Qatar and Japan are even in the tournament when they are not part of south America, since 1993 the copa America host 2 guest nations which this year is Qatar and Japan. In the past the likes of USA, Mexico and Australia have been invited to take part.
Uruguay looked hungry and plenty of biting challenges..
Established side with few new players cutting their teeth..
Was Ecuador losing a key player coinci-dental?
As for MoM award...difficult to chews.
Yes it probably is crazy, but i guess it makes financial sense ;)
I think your comment was reasonable, i agree, quality not the best in the women's wold cup but admittedly better than i expected, though its early days in the sport and yes i though the England players passed the ball around well.
Agree with you , but it’s licence not license- sorry but I hate American spelling being used in this country
