  1. Griezmann saves France but Hungary earn famous point

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

Antoine Griezmann rescued a point for world champions France and denied Hungary one of the big European Championship shocks in front of a raucous 60,000 crowd in Budapest.

Attila Fiola fired Hungary into the lead just before the break as he held off the French defence to slot home.

The goal was met by one of the loudest celebrations football has heard since March 2020 - or even before then - as the Puskas Arena went wild.

France equalised when Kylian Mbappe ran onto Hugo Lloris' huge kick down the field before laying it off - with the aid of a slight deflection - for Griezmann to slot home from eight yards.

  2. Post update

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

Hungary goalscorer Attila Fiola: "We achieved a fantastic result with a great team game. I am proud of the side, and also the fans. This is one of the most beautiful days of my life.

"It was great to see how well the team played. We were able to showcase braver football and were better in attack than against Portugal on Tuesday. Today was amazing."

France coach Didier Deschamps: "Hungary put on the match of their lives. Good for them.

"I'm satisfied – I'm not overjoyed with the result, but I'm satisfied. We didn't lose, we do have a point to add to the three we have in the bag already. I think this still leaves the door open for us to have a little bit of leeway for the third game."

France captain Hugo Lloris: "The coach told us to stay positive. We gave 100% to get the draw. Even if that’s not what we came here for, we’ll have to settle for it."

  3. 'Deserved draw for Hungary'

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

    Dion Dublin

Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brilliant game! Two very good sides that worked hard. Neither team could get the lead but the the quality of France just didn't show through. The hard work of Hungary, the way they went forward and got back with pace, they deserved the draw.

  4. 'Football is bringing joy'

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

    Eric Abidal

Former France defender on BBC One

    Hungary fans

Football is bringing joy. After this year and a half of the pandemic this atmosphere was amazing for football.

  5. 'It's Hungary's day'

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

    Jermaine Jenas

Former England midfielder on BBC One

You've got to love it. The passion, the togetherness that Hungary have shown today. They really dug deep to get that result. Their fans are hugely proud of them. The French in the second half just didn't quite get it right. They got the goal, got themselves back in it but it's Hungary's day.

  6. 'France only have themselves to blame'

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

    Alan Shearer

Former England striker on BBC One

60,000 fans here and you could tell Hungary were lifted by the fans. They had something to hang on to and boy did they do that. They showed a great attitude and they were a threat as well, but France only have themselves to blame.

  7. Goodbye

It's time to say farewell. I'll leave you with the best of the reaction.

Thanks for your company. Euro 2020 continues to deliver.

Fortunately, there's another three weeks to go!

  8. Post update

Build-up to the second game of the day - Portugal v Germany - is under way here.

Kick-off for that one is at 17:00 BST. That promises to be a belter.

You can read about Hungary's heroics against France here.

  9. Post update

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

France do not have long to recover from this disappointment.

They return to the Puskas Arena on Wednesday to face Portugal in a World champions v European champions showdown.

Meanwhile, Hungary are in Munich to meet Germany at the same time.

Who is going to miss out on a top two finish?

  10. 'Fiola was bit of spark'

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

    Alex Scott

Former England and Arsenal defender on BBC One

Attila Fiola was that little bit of spark that Hungary had. The composure at the end of his run to keep his cool when all the fans are in and he knows what it means, that was sensational.

Richard: England won't play France in the next round. England will intentionally drop points against the Czech Republic to ensure they don't meet the second place team in group F.

  13. 'Good warning for France'

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

    Julien Laurens

French football expert on BBC Radio 5 live

France will be disappointed. Some good things in the first half but you cannot make the mistakes that Pavard and Varane did in the first half. The second half was underwhelming, we expected more from them.

There was something missing from the second half and it is a good warning for France. It is good for them that it is early in the competition and not in the quarter-finals but I think they can learn from this.

Bloke_On_A_Bike: France drawing with Hungary is a bad result for England. The 2nd place team in Group F will play England. France has 4pts, if Portugal beat Germany France will finish 2nd in group & play England in knock out stage.

Imsanjayvg: Hungary have caused the shock of #Euro2020 so far, thanks to this goal from Attila Fiola!

    Germany bottom of the table?

  19. As it stands...

    FT: Hungary 1-1 France

Portugal can go top with a win over Germany. That game kicks off in under an hour. Hungary move off the bottom of Group F with a point.
