  1. Goodbye

Right folks, it's time for us to get out of here.

  2. Wembley alive with colour

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty

BBC Sport chief football writer at Wembley

Thousands of England supporters have gathered outside Wembley and the first supporters are now drifting into the stadium.

It's more than two hours to kick-off and this already has the feel of a special occasion - although it has a lot to live up to after yesterday's last 16 games which saw Spain and Switzerland go through against Croatia and World Cup holders France.

  3. Post update

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    .

    Wembley Way is heaving!

  4. 'Two teams that do not differ much'

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    BBC Monitoring

    The world through its media

    German headlines

Let's have a quick look at what the German press are saying ahead of tonight's game.

Die Zeit has a piece with former Germany captain Philipp Lahm who says that England may have the advantage. "What is at stake now, what are we going to see at Wembley? Two teams that are at a comparable level of development and that do not differ very much."

Der Tagesspiegel recalled Gareth Southgate’s miss in the penalty shootout against Germany at Euro 96. It noted that before tonight's match the England manager "tried to shift the focus away from his own background and towards the present and the future."

Just under 2 hours to kick-off - is anybody else anxiously excited?

Tell us how you feel at #bbcsport

Pete - Born in Manchester to a German mother and Ukrainian father. Going to be a rollercoaster of an evening

Thomas - My flight back to London from Milan today got moved to, you guessed it, 5pm… absolutely crushed… any chance European Short-Haul flights have introduced Wi-Fi and Screens on board? Unknowingly supporting the boys from 35,000m!

Daniel - What I would give to be on Wembley Way right now.

  6. Post update

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

Will England put Germany to the sword?

  7. Italy to win Euro 2020?

    #bbcfootball

Skully: So the official best two teams in the world (France & Croatia) have exited. KDB is injured and Denmark are missing their star player. Can't see anything other than an Italy win.

  8. Great atmosphere

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

Germany fans have arrived at Wembley. There's a terrific atmosphere building with two and a bit hours to kick-off.

Are there any England fans in Split, Croatia? Asking for a friend ...

K Kazmi - My prediction 4-1 to England.

Saf9917 - On holiday in Torquay and the pub is already buzzing. Plenty of nerves around but England can win if we go positive. Play Rashford, his speed will beat the German press

Jamie - I'll be watching the match in Split, Croatia which is currently full of Germans... If any other English fans are reading this please make yourselves known!

  10. 'A chance to make history' - Shearer

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Alan Shearer

Former England striker on BBC One

I'm so excited, these boys have got an incredible opportunity to make their own history this evening.

I've been lucky enough to play in these games and I know how the players will be feeling, it's fair easier being a player than being a fan put it that way.

These England players have got their own opportunity to make their own history, we go on about this fixture because it means so much to two great footballing countries.

There's a little more to come from this England team hopefully, they haven't really got going yet. They've looked solid defensively but forward positions it's not quite clicked yet, so we're just hoping that can happen this evening.

Jay - Calling it now, England to win today and it will be a Spain - England final on July 11th

Joe - Swiss showed last night that positivity and courage can flatten the big boys. Just hoping Gareth sticks with Saka, Grealish and some proper attacking intent!

Richard - Home advantage - No travel - An extra day's rest - Easy draw. Honestly, if England don't make the final this year, they never will.

  12. Showing their colours

  14. 'Past meetings will have no bearing'

    England v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Jurgen Klinsmann

Former Germany head coach, BBC Sport column

Whoever plays at Wembley, I don't think the past meetings between the two sides will have any bearing on the outcome.

Of course, for the fans that are a bit older and the generation of players like myself who were in those big games like in 1990 or 1996, we look at it a bit in the context of history - the games we played in or watched.

But the younger generation will not do that at all. There have been no big clashes between England and Germany at tournaments in the recent past - it is 11 years since the 2010 World Cup and Thomas Muller is the only player left on either side who played in that game.

Roy Sanbach: I last saw England play Germany at Wembley 25 years ago. A desperately disappointing night. I will be there again. This time for a win. Football will come home this time. Come on, England!

Glennyboy: England have nothing to fear playing Germany. Blunt against France, struggled against Hungary. Be brave on the ball and we will cause problems. Going to be another great occasion and I think we might nick it.

Paul Collins: England shouldn't fear Germany but they won't fear us either. They came through a hard group, we only scored 2 goals in a group of mediocre teams. Should be a good game though. Both are rubbish.

  16. Live on Wembley Way

Chelsephilip: Just play Sako and Grealish. These 2 play without fear and can win the game for England without penalties being needed.

Steely_Dan54: Fabulous occasion, England v Germany at Wembley. It doesn't get much bigger than that. I'd say both sides are about even.

Karl: If we can get past Germany, the route to the final is actually pretty decent. As poor as Germany have been, I just know they will find a way to get past us. Probably on penalties...

Time to hear from our fans out in Germany ... rather them than me!

Andrew - Will be the only England fan watching in my German football team clubhouse, so call the Polizei if I don't surface tomorrow.

Daniel - As a Brit living in and working in Germany I will be watching from the comfort (and safety) of my own home...the pub can wait until the quarter finals.

Callum - Will be wearing England face paint at my local Biergarten in Berlin. Might not survive if we win, might not survive if we lose.
