The cold weather will last until at least the middle of the week, said BBC Weather forecaster Billy Payne.
He said: "Temperatures will be remaining below freezing by day for some, with snow showers most frequent in the east where significant accumulations are likely, and a risk of ice.
"A severe wind chill too."
Derbyshire County Council has said gritters will be out on Sunday after several roads, including the A57 Snake Pass, were closed overnight due to snowfall.
Patients from London and Midlands treated in Leicester

Front-line medics in Leicester’s
hospitals stepped in to treat Covid patients from London and other parts of the
Midlands when vital intensive care beds were in short supply elsewhere.
The hospitals provided mutual
aid to other trusts while continuing to care for Leicester, Leicestershire and
Rutland’s most ill patients.
Rebecca Brown, University
Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust’s acting chief executive, told her colleagues
she was “really proud” they not only managed their own workload but supported
patients from London and the greater Midlands area too.
She said: “This hasn’t just been
in ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation), as we would do normally, but in
our intensive care unit too.
“We have absolutely supported
the national NHS family by taking on their patients as well.”

The city is home to the country’s largest ECMO unit, and has supported some of the sickest patients from all over the UK during the Covid crisis.
The specialist life support machine is used for patients needing the highest level of care. Blood is pumped outside of the body to a heart-lung machine that removes carbon dioxide and sends oxygen-filled blood back to tissues in the body.

A yellow warning for snow and ice will be in place across the East Midlands until at least Wednesday as Storm Darcy makes its way across the UK.
The Met Office warning is for Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire from 15:00 GMT on Sunday until 23:59 GMT on Wednesday.
Forecasters have warned the storm will bring heavy snowfall in the South East and the East, but the cold snap is not expected to be as widespread as 2018's Beast from the East.
The cold weather will last until at least the middle of the week, said BBC Weather forecaster Billy Payne.
