Dave Ryding's astonishing World Cup slalom win in Kitzbuhel, less than a month before the Olympics, sent a wave of energy through Team GB on the eve of Beijing 2022.

Wednesday is men's slalom day, when Ryding will try to summon the same form that turned him into Britain's first alpine skiing World Cup winner. He'll be joined by GB's Billy Majorfor the first runs at 02:15 and second runs from 05:45.

Kathryn Thomson skates for Great Britain in the women's 1500m short track speed skating from 11:30.

You'll have stay up late for another important curling match for Great Britain in the women's competition at 01:05 GMT.

The biggest story of the day undoubtedly came in the women's singles figure skating as Russian 15-year-old Kamila Valieva returned to action.

A court decision on Monday meant she was allowed to compete despite a positive drugs test.

She was not at her faultless best and was in tears at the end of her routine but did do enough to lead the standings going into the free skate.

The British entrant Natasha McKay will not progress to the next stage. A fall left her in 28th

Great Britain's wait for a medal goes on another day.

Kirsty Muir finished eighth in the ski slopestyle final while compatriot Katie Summerhayes was ninth.

Mathilde Gremaud won gold for Switzerland.

It has been a good day for Great Britain's curlers.

The men secured their place in the semi-finals with a win over previously unbeaten Sweden.

They have a good chance of topping the round robin standings now.

The women, meanwhile, had to beat Japan or they'd have effectively been knocked out. They won 10-4.

Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber went the wrong way during the Nordic combined event.

It probably cost him a medal!

The team pursuit speed skating events were as entertaining as ever. There was drama in the women's final in particular with a late crash...

Francesco Friedrich piloted himself to gold in the two-man bobsleigh.

He also ensured it was a German one-two-three. Total domination.

It is the first time any nation has taken every medal in an Olympic bobsleigh event.

Italian alpine skier Nadine Delago was today's surprise medallist of the day.

Our podium rankings beforehand placed her 10th amongst the participants in the women's downhill.

Delago had never previously been on the podium in her senior career but she had finished in the top eight of five her of six downhills this season.

All those reporters waiting... and they are told that Kamila Valieva will not be attending the news conference and that any questions about that should be directed to the Russian Olympic Committee.

Team GB pilot Brad Hall speaking to BBC Sport after their final run: "We're both fit and health, we got back up for the fourth run and we're all feeling good.

"It's a mistake I haven't made before, definitely surprised that it happened and caught me off guard but that's elite racing, it happens in formula one and happens in bobsleigh, got to pick yourself up and carry on.

"It didn't take us long to think about it [going for the fourth run], as long as we're both fit and healthy there's nothing stopping us. We've had this experience in bobsleigh before, you've got to get back up and go again there is no point waiting for the next day.

"We've looked at some videos, looked at my mistakes and what happened and then you make adjustments straight away. I've driven the corner loads of times correctly and won't be long before I'm getting it right again.

"We're looking forward to four-man now and progressing from there."

It was an eventful day for Great Britain's Brad Hall and Nick Gleeson.

In the end they finished in 11th after their crash in run three.

There's going to be a few games to go and it's amazing how things can change.

It could be big for us [facing Canada] to see where we are going to finish in the table but it could also be big for Canada to see if they're going to be qualifying.

All at stake but I'm so so glad our guys have done the work and qualified but, they're going to have to continue, they definitely want that top spot. They've got a lot to prove out here, but a wonderful performance today.

Great Britain skip Bruce Mouat, speaking to BBC Sport: "That was probably our best performance. We came out blocks really well. We put them under pressure first two ends, got the jump on them and continued from that line of play. I'm really happy with how it went."

Job done as a red stone goes clattering out of the house. Britain are through to the semi-finals by my calculations.
